Leadership Speech

I ask you to consider, what is leadership? To me a leader is a communicator; an

individual with the ability to share their vision with those around them. A
leader is passionate; their leadership has a purpose, a goal they are dedicated
to achieving, through the inspirational motivation their team. A leader is a
teacher; as great leadership will result in the empowerment of others to lead,
take risks and develop new skills.
I have experienced many aspects of leadership through mentoring and
decision making positions. My vast experiences, and years (as yes Im very old
for a first year participant), have more than prepared me for the challenges
ahead. My previous role in founding a youth organisation has prepared me for
working with the diverse group seated here today, and of course the late
nights that shall undoubtedly accompany such a leadership role. Im sure that
you can see I have the capacity to lead a team that will foster positive
outcomes, not just within the chamber, but for all young south Australians.
Our resounding voice in parliamentary week will have an impact through my
leadership.
I believe, I can lead my party through parliamentary week. We will grow and
develop as a cohort throughout the experiences ahead. In closing, when
electing your leaders, I ask you to consider your definition of leadership. Is it
winning a popularity contest, or demonstrating a desire to work with each
individual to ensure both a meaningful and memorable parliamentary week for
all.
