Topics for the competition (Choose 1):

Police Reforms
Martin Luther King, Jr. said rightly, Law and order exist for the purpose of establishing justice
and when they fail in this purpose they become the dangerously structured dams that block the
flow of social progress.
The primary law enforcing entity in our country is the police and if there are problems and
complications in the operation of this body, though subtly the whole nation is affected. Present
a case on importance of police reforms, challenges and solutions to these challenges.
Substance Abuse
With a surge in the consumption of drugs and alcohols both in well of section of society who can
afford high quality drugs as well as the poor strata who manage with cheaply available cough
syrups, gasoline and whitener, its high time that attention is paid to the abused, the abuser and
the substance. The major concern in India is that majority under the effect of drug and alcohol
addiction are children and adolescents and there seems to be less of a correlation between
education and drug abuse. Present a case study addressing the above issues.
Employment and Job Creation
India has its youth constituting the largest percentage of population. Every year a large chuck of
this youth remains unemployed while the rest has majority of them joining the unorganized
sector. Job creation and employment is a multifaceted issue which needs to be addressed by
reforms in various fields ranging from education to labor laws. Present a case study addressing
the above problem.
Internal Security in India
Taking into account militarization, domestic internal conflicts, society and security a global body
has ranked 143 out of 162 countries in its peace index. Understanding the causes of such a threat
to Indias internal security leads us to issues like Maoist movement, opium network, Jihadi
terrorist attacks, tensions with Pakistan and China in the J&K and north eastern states etc.
Present a case study to discuss the internal security threats, challenges and suggested action in
near future.
Higher Education in India
India's higher education system is the third largest in the world, next to the USA and China.
Though the institutions providing higher education are many but quality education is imparted
only by few. Even amongst these few, research facilities and career in research is barely
encouraged. Present a case study on challenges faced by higher education system in India and
suggest how it can be taken to the next level.
