Before I deliver my speech/ I would like to introduce my self,/ my name is ilma ulfatul janah, I
am student in state university of semarang especially development economic. Today(tedei),/ I
dont forget to say thanks to miss uut and miss wijang who has given me/ an opportunity to
deliver my speech. In this time, I would like to present my speech about the importance of
education in the border region of Indonesia.
Good morning/ ladies and gentlemen//
Education is the main factor/ to define, whether a person is qualified(kwalifed) or no//, because
from education / we can get more information and knowledge. Education is the most important
factor to support the progress(praugres) of a country. As we know, Indonesia is a big country
which has many island in habited by hundred of millions people. We have been independent for
69 years. The Border region is not only as the foremost region but also as the gateway to can go
in our country, but the border region become the latest region in education. Actually in our
constitution, explained that all of Indonesian citizen must get education, but In the fact the
equality of education in our country is not same, there is some region of Indonesia which has the
quality of education is too low.
Winsulangi salindeho as a regent in north Sulawesi said that there are many island which has
only elementary school. Because of that, The children cant continue their study(stadi) into
junior high school. In the border region of Kalimantan, the children must to walk as far as 6 Km
to go to Malaysia school. On Monday, they should to sing our nationality, but they school in
Malaysia so, they must to sing nationality song of Malaysia. not only that the condition study in
the border region to become worried cause one person teacher must to teach 111 student in
elementary school ( education newspaper on march 14 2011). Dr jihanes gluba gebze as a exregent of merauke said that there is disproportion in education of western Indonesia and eastern
Indonesia, we can compare, when there are many student in six class of elementary school in
western of Indonesia they can get international standard of education, but in the eastern of
Indonesia the children in six class of elementary school, they still to spell in order to can read
clearly. Moreover the dreadful fact Based on furiyani experience, the children in NTT doesnt

know the capital city of Indonesia, the president of Indonesia and the nationality song of
Indonesia.
Ladies and gentlemen
How can the quality of education in the border region increase, when one person teacher must to
teach 111 student, I think its not effective to study activities. The border region as the gateway
of our country, so in my opinion in the border region required the human who has high
perception

to can defend our civilization. It can be realized if there is same equality in

education. so its make that education in the border region is so important. I just hope that the
government give more attention in education especially education in the border region. In order
to the quality of education each region is same, so it will make the quality of human resource in
the border region increase, in order to can defend our country
