Franklins

seasons Franklin High School has a record of 22-5.

Philosophy
In 2003 we started using our jet sweep plays
from shotgun formations. Our delay in
installing this combination was caused by a
concern over the ability to time the shotgun
snap with the jet sweep motion and
exchange. Once we found that we could
successfully execute these fundamentals,
this combination became one of the most
productive parts of our offensive attack.
We are convinced that this package:

keeps the defense honest.11

creates great misdirection

spreads the field, thus opening up

running lanes
provides a set halfback which
allows for an extra blocker in the
alley without having to pull a
lineman

can be used effectively anywhere

Jet Sweep

Snap Execution
We use these coaching points in executing
the shotgun snap with jet sweep motion.
1

Our quarterback will point to the

man in motion to begin the
motion.

Our man in motion beings his motion

and runs 75% speed
Our Center sees the feet of our
Quarterback through his stance

3
4

When the man in motion reaches the

hip of our Tight End (or the same
area if to an open end side), our
Quarterback quickly lifts and
lowers his up leg
The ball is snapped.

It does take a bit of practice time for the

Center, Quarterbacks, and men in motion to
get a feel for each others timing, but this
can be achieved.

These are the assignments we use with our

jet sweep.
Line: Zone block to play side. Work to the
next level
H: Block the first linebacker over or inside
A: Block alley to safety
X: Block the corner
Z: Motion, After receiving the handoff
sprint hard looking to cut downfield at the
hash, the numbers or the boundary (in that
order). Block the first linebacker over or
inside
QB: Handoff then make a great boot fake
