INT. ''KITCHEN'' DAY

We see a close up shot of a small, round, old fashioned, blue china teapot placed neatly on a small
square table. NANCY, is a sophisticated, upper class, petite 25 year old female. SUDDENLY we
see Nancy rush past quickly and her hand SWOOPS up the teapot and carries it away. Nancy's hand
has a large orange stoned ring placed on it. As she is holding the tea pot FIRMLY, we see a tracking
shot of Nancy's hand as she is rushing outside.
EXT. ''GARDEN'' DAY
We see Nancy CAREFULLY place the teapot onto a large round table covered in a light pink and
white laced table cloth. SLOWLY we see the camera gradually track down her pastel peach dress
which falls at her knees to Nancy's feet which have small heels on them as she is SCURRYING
across the floor, rushing around in all directions back inside.
INT. ''KITCHEN'' DAY
We gradually pan back up to see Nancy's hands again, slowly picking up a small, circular silver tray
filled with little buns with fluffy icing on top. We follow the tray of buns as Nancy DASHES back
outside.
EXT. ''GARDEN'' DAY
Nancy places the tray beside the teacup and then we see her add 4 miniature shiny white tea cups
next to it.
Gradually the camera pans up to Nancy's face as she sighs with relief. She has long brown hair with
has been styles in a near up-do in tight waves, her lips are painted with a rich red lipstick. We see a
long locket hanging from her neck, Nancy begins smiling and PULLS off her apron, placing it
carefully on the side of the chair. Nancy is ADMIRINGLY looking at her hard work until an
ABRUPT loud knock STARTLES her as her body slightly jumps and her eyes WIDEN. Nancy's
attention suddenly turns to the large back door in her beautiful sparkly green garden full of
blossoming flowers and leaves from the summer.
Nancy swings open the door as we see three women one with long wavy hair, one with her hair
tied up in a formal style, and the others hair is short and curly in the breeze. The three woman's eyes
are SHINING with EXCITMENT and their smiles all BEAMING as they begin hugging each other.
EVE has long wavy hair with a large white clip shining in her hair and she is wearing a delicate
peach colour on her lips. Eve has a white top on tucked in with a cream high waisted long skirt
which falls at her ankles with small heels.
JENNY has her hair tied up with a clip. She is wearing a floral long dress with a white perl necklace
hanging around her neck with small heels.
JANE has short curly hair with a slanted red hat on her head. She is wearing a long peach dress with
lace on the front and a belt around her waist. She is gripping onto a small brown clutch bag with
white gloves on her fingers up to her arms with small heels.
All the women RUN inside and head towards the table, talking and pointing amongst themselves
about the table Nancy has set out. We see the women FINALLY sit down at the chairs as Nancy
REACHES over and pours them a drink of tea. The women are all drinking and laughing. We see a
close up shot of a small, old fashioned brown radio and Jane's finger reach over to turn it on. Eve
abruptly LEAPS up and begins dancing, dragging at Jane and Jenny to dance with her. All the girls

are laughing and dancing together whilst Nancy sits shyly laughing at them. Jenny races over to
Nancy to try PULL her up to dance. As Nancy stands up we see her small locket around her neck
fall off onto the hard ground. We see a close up of the locket on the floor which pops open of the
photo inside of Nancy and her Fianc. Nancy's face drops as she SLOWLY kneels to the ground and
sits STARING AT THE PHOTO of her and her Fianc Jack whom is at war. The photo shows
Nancy and Jack cuddling tightly together. Jacks hair is jet black and gelled back, he's wearing a
smart brown suit. Nancy gets back up and sits in her chair, unable to focus on the girls behind her.
We hear the sounds of the women's voices begin to blur and echo as Nancy sits back in her chair
and pulls her small notepad out of her handbag.
Nancy begins tapping on the paper with her pencil, her eyes keep wondering over to the photo of
Jack. Suddenly, Nancy looks up to the glimmering sun and begins writing onto the paper.
NANCY (V.O)
On London Fell a clearer light;
Caressing pencils of the sun...
Nancy looks around, slowly getting up from her seat clutching her piece of paper towards her
chest, with her locket in her hand. She begins to walk over to the wall and sits on the edge as she
carries on writing. Nancy looks up at the houses as she carries on writing with a smile upon her
face.
NANCY (V.O)
Defined the distances, the white.
Houses transfigured one by one...
Nancy begins looking round, her friends so full of life and energy, she smiles at them and looks
down, realising her basket is on the floor she SHARPLY bends down and picks it up, and SLOWLY
paces over through her back garden, to the back door. Nancy sits on the wall and gives a sigh of
relief as she looks up at the sea blue sky.
NANCY (V.O)
The 'long, unlovely street' impearled.
O What sky has walked the world!
Nancy SNEAKILY looks back, and grabs her basket and paper and darts out SWINING the door
open with a huge smile on her face.
NANCY (V.O)
Most happy year!
RUNNING out the backdoor, Nancy takes a DEEP breath in and smells the FRESH air. Nancy steps
out of the house and we see the large back door shut behind her.
We see Nancy lightly running EXCITIDLY round the corner into a LARGE, bright field. We see her
fingers STROKE the leaves of the trees and the wheat. Nancy RUNS to the middle of the field and
STRETCHES her arms out, SPINNING round in a circle,
NANCY (V.O)
And out of town
The hay was prosperous, and the wheat;

Nancy drops her basket and FALLS to the ground, starring up at the sky. Nancy rolls over onto her
stomach and reaches in her basket for her paper and carries on writing.
NANCY (V.O)
The silken harvest climbed the down.
We see Nancy leave the field, running through a NARROW pathway, filled with tree's all around
her. Nancy see's an apple roll on the floor towards her and looks down at it. Nancy looks up and her
eyes light up as she runs towards a small market with a HUGE smile on her face.
NANCY (V.O)
Moon after moon was heavenly-sweet
Stroking the bread within the sheaves
Nancy begins filling her basket with golden apples, and RICH red apples.
NANCY (V.O)
Looking 'twixt apples and their leaves.
And while this rose made round her cup..
We see a close up shot of the apple in Nancy's hand, and see abstract imagery of flashes of ink in
water and smashes of glass in slow motion on the screen showing the soldiers falling, their blood
and some dying.
NANCY (V.O)
The armies died convulsed.
We see Nancy place the large apple into her basket and see a close up of her face as she looks up at
the sky as the sun begins to drift away to GLOOMY clouds.
NANCY (V.O)
And when this chaste young silver sun went up
We see more contrasting abstract imagery of Nancy and her finance's face's flashing together
quickly. Jack is in IMMENSE pain, fighting until he can no more. We see Jack's facial expressions
show he is SUFFERING as he's screaming in pain and REACHING OUT to his friend. We see a
choppy montage of close ups of Jacks face, Nancy's face looking upset and abstract ink in between
showing the soldiers falling one by one.
NANCY (V.O)
Softly, a thousand shattered men,
One wet corruption, heaped the plain,
We see Nancy look back down at the apple and it's all ROTTED. Nancy looks SHOCKED and
SCARED. We see a montage video of Jack miming as he's SCREAMING out from the pain.
NANCY (V.O)
After a league-long throb of pain.
We see Nancy RACING back through the field, holding onto her basket TIGHT. Nancy TRIPS in
the field and all her fruits come rolling out. We hear MUFFLING voices as Nancy is running and
we see FLASHES of ink and a montage of facial expressions from Jack.

Nancy FINALLY arrives back at her back garden door out of breathe and PANICKY. She comes to
a HALT as she SLOWLY pushes the ajar door all the way open. We see food scattered all over the
floor and small crumpled up paper plates left flying around in the wind on the floor. Nancy sighs in
horror. Nancy runs over and begins throwing away the rubbish on the floor, PACING around
quickly, RUBBING her face occasionally. Nancy FALLS to her seat and PULLS her hands to her
face. As Nancy looks up we can see her face has calmed down, the birds begin to CHIRP again and
the world seems more at peace again. Nancy looks over at a red rose that's still in tact and healthy.
NANCY (V.O)
Flower following tender flower; and birds,
and berries; and benignant skies
Nancy SNEAKILY walks over to it and smells it, her face LIGHTS up with happiness. Nancy walks
off and we see the red rose still shining.
We see Nancy sat on a brown chair, painting a picture of her fianc on some large white paper on
the wall.
NANCY (V.O)
Made thrive the serried flocks and herds.
--Yonder are men shot through the eyes.
Love, hide thy face
From man's unpardonable race.
SUDDENLY, we see the painting Nancy did turn depressing, covered in black and white instead of
BEAMING colours, the ink is dripping off the paper Nancy stands up in shock, as we see a
flashing montage of Jack screaming for HELP. Nancy begins walking backwards in SHOCK, and
unknowingly stands on the last red rose which kills it immediately. Nancy is still GRIPPING onto
the locket with the photo of her and Jack inside. She falls to the ground and SINKS her head into
her lap, kissing the photograph. We pan into an extreme close up of the photograph.
We pull out from photo and see Nancy 50 years later, aged 75. Nancy is sat in a DIMMED lighted
room, with curly grey hair and red lipstick on. She is wearing a pink cardigan with a white t-shirt
underneath. We see her hand has the same ORANGE ring on it as before. We see Nancy looking at
a framed photograph of Jack and his best friend whom he died for, with candles lit around it to
commemorate Jack.
NANCY (V.O)
Who said 'No man hath greater love than this,
To die to serve his friend'?
We see Nancy open a rectangular brown box with a lock on the front and a cross on the top. Nancy
SHAKINGLY pulls out the poem and opens it up. She moves her finger across the lines of the poem
and rubs her finger over the cross symbol on the box for the last line.
NANCY (V.O)
So these have loved us all unto the end.
Chide thou no more, O thou sacrificed!
The soldier dying dies upon a kiss,
The very kiss of Christ.
