a) Green Technology

Over the span of few decades, world has become a Global Village. It is achieved not
only with fierce perseverance and human determination, but these innovations also came
at a cost of very vast amount of earth natural resources. This consumption of natural
resources at the present rate can cause dangers for our environment. Green technologies
can be defined as a set of inventions or devices developed over time for the sole purpose
of countering the threats to our environment posed by vigorous human developments
either industrial or otherwise that demand insane amount of consumption of earth natural
resources. Some examples are as follows which provide opportunities to maintain a
sustainable environment and eliminate the challenges posed by our Energy-hungry era:
Recycling Technologies: Recycling helps with waste management. It a great way to
prevent wastage of potentially useful materials. It reduces wastage of fresh raw materials,
energy consumption and air pollution. Industrial processes specially manufacturing
processes excrete a lot of waste that causes air, water and environmental pollution.
Recycling reduces the waste by a huge amount. Biofiltration and electricity generation
via Biomass are few examples.
Renewable Energy Projects: These projects replenish the energy that uses the sources
like wood , water, sun, etc. Since the raw materials are renewable, this helps create a
sustainable environment. Hydro Power Plant and Wind Turbines are few examples.
On the other hand, petroleum sources or coal used for energy generation are likely to be
harmful and create by-products that desecrate the environment and its living.
eGain Forecasting: It is method to predict weather fluctuations so that heat of any
industrial or manufacturing process can be adjusted accordingly. This helps reducing
energy consumption and greenhouse gases emission.
Solid Waste Management: It deals with methods for properly dispose, reuse or treat any
solid waste, such that it can no longer cause any harm towards its relative environment.
Water Purification: Industrial processes all over the world cause water pollution. It is
the most harmful of all since water is one of the primary source of life on earth. Water
purification processes are ensuring the enduring life span of living beings and the
sustainability of earth.
The above mentioned technologies are the few of many that are providing a sustainable
environment for all living, specially humans, who are creating new challenges everyday.
If human race wants a better future, they shouldnt pursue it at the cost of that very future
and implementing green technologies is a great way of doing it.

b) Global Impact of Technological Development

The rapid advancement of technology has revolutionized our world within the space of a
few decades. One of the greatest advantages of this revolution has been the remarkable
progress made toward an actual global community. Our digital world is continuously
making progress in speed and accuracy, shaping the world into Global Village.
Back in the days, language barriers were the obstacles that hurdled our progress due the
lack of communication. Now the rise of technologies like NTT Docomos Hanashite
Honyaku, VRI translations and Google Translate has made it a thing of the past making
the translation of any language of the world easy and one click away.
The field of Commerce is the one who has benefited most from technological
advancements. From centuries, traders have sought ways to leverage the competitors to
satisfy local market needs. Now present technologies have turned the whole world into a
market. Online traders utilizing customer preferences, and focused marketing
campaigns are more appealing to local audiences, because customers can more
thoroughly research their potential purchases to find the best fit for their needs. Also
retailers can gather information about potential customers to pinpoint interests and trends.
Furthermore online banking has completely changed our views about financial
transactions.
Services like Skype and other messenger or chat services have revolutionized the ways of
conducting business in a great capacity. Interviews and other business deals or
transactions are now being conducted via these services. In short, Skype is the new
telephone.
No doubt, that technology has made our lives a great deal easier via speedy technologybased transactions, communication and product delivery. But it is also to be remembered
that it has made the balance between local and global commerce very fragile since now
varying national economies are closely-knit together and any rise or fall of financial
institutions can result in a huge impact on that precarious balance.
Also to be noted that technological development has also created an alarming dependency
in masses. These developments rely on intelligent autonomous systems which are in
place to assist, but also can be hacked into or sabotaged by any malignant elements in our
midst if not governed by stern security protocols performing checks and balances.
In a nutshell, surely technology has overcome distances and delays making our lives
easy, but also has imposed a great responsibility regarding neither to abuse it nor to create
a dependency towards it, personally and economically.
