About Institution:
MGMs Jawaharlal Nehru Engineering College is a premier institute of
engineering that has carved a place for itself in the field of technical education in a
very short span of time. The college has made its presence felt in the world of
technical education. The college also provides facilities for research leading to
PhD in selected five subjects through its Research Center. JNEC provides a
congenial atmosphere for diligent academic pursuits. This has been reflected
through the results.
The college is affiliated to Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University,
which confers the degree of Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.), Master of Engineering
(M.E.) in various disciplines and Bachelor of Architecture (B. Arch.). JNEC is the
first college in Marathwada to have been accredited by NBA and Council of
Architecture.
About IT Department:
The department of Information Technology was established in 2001 with an intake
of 60 students. The aim of the department is to prepare students to work in
Information System and Information Management with special emphasis on web
based applications. The department also prepares students to understand and
develop E- governance applications. The course enables student to understand the

concept of Information Systems and Key Technologies involved, that affects their
success in the modern enterprise.
Scope of the workshop:
Big Data is one of the most important technology trends that has the potential for
dramatically changing the way organizations use information to enhance the
customer experience and transform their business models. Big data is a high
volume, high velocity and/or high variety information assets that require new
forms of processing to enable enhanced decision making, insight discovery and
process optimization.
Many companies are using emerging technologies such as Hadoop, MapReduce
and new database engines to transform the value of their data.
This workshop is focused to give the overview of Big Data and and explore
its building blocks.
