WHY ABU DHABI & UAE?

The United Arab Emirates is increasingly positioning itself as a
global leader in doing business and as an attractive environment
for business and investment opportunities.
As the federal body mandated to drive UAEs competitiveness
globally, the Emirates Competitiveness Councils (ECC) close
collaboration with the private sector in addition to its work
with the public sector, is of significant importance to the UAEs
globally competitive position and to sustaining the future
prosperity of the nation.
Energy demand in the UAE is growing at an annual rate of about
9 per cent three times the global average and so developing
a reliable supply of electricity is critical to the future growth of
the Nation. With increasing electricity demand, the sectors need
for fuel is to be met by a more diversified mix of gas, nuclear
energy, renewable energy, and other gas sources such as liquefied
natural gas.
Through the likes of Masdar, UAE is demonstrating what a
responsible oil producer can do to help create a balance between
hydrocarbons and renewable energy in addressing both climate
change and energy security.

Abu Dhabi, the capital of UAE and the largest of UAEs seven
member emirates, is investing in an Evolving World Energy
Market with energy and industry investments being given even
more priority in the future and a focus on projects that are
self-sustaining.
The Emirate is particularly focussed on delivering safe, clean,
efficient energy to the UAE with the introduction and expansion
of new electricity sources. This includes - nuclear and renewable
energy through Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporations nuclear
plant construction, Masdars solar thermal power generation and
TAQAs waste-to-energy plant project - energy that is needed to
support the UAEs social and economic growth.
As part of the Abu Dhabi Economic Vision 2030, the plan is for
25% of its electricity demand to be supplied by nuclear power
generation which includes the building of 4 nuclear reactors to
achieve its target and 7% to be supplied by renewable energy.
Abu Dhabi welcomes private sector investment into its energy
exploration and production and is committed to forming strategic
partnerships with local and international companies and pursuing
investment opportunities to support the growth of the energy
industry in the UAE.
