Study Tip
No necesita saber el significado de cada una de las palabras del texto para
poder tener una idea general de su contenido. Pruebe la siguiente tcnica:
lea rpidamente el texto e identifique todas las palabras que se parezcan al
espaol (por ejemplo: camp, hour, experienced, etc.). Observando estas
palabras puede darse una idea general del contenido del texto.

Study Tip
Para el ejercicio 2, le sugerimos seguir el siguiente procedimiento:
a) Lea las oraciones.
b) Detngase en cada una y luego busque en el texto la informacin
especfica que le ayude a determinar si las oraciones son verdaderas o
falsas.
c) No le d importancia a la informacin que considere irrelevante para lo
que busca.
Recuerde: Buscar informacin especfica es una tcnica de lectura
denominada scanning.

Resuelva el ejercicio 9 (Reading & Writing Targets, Students Book 1, page 14); le va a
ayudar a comprender mejor. Debe completar las oraciones con There is o There are.
Compruebe sus respuestas al ejercicio 9 del libro en la pgina 29 de esta gua de estudio.
Para dar una mejor descripcin de lo que hay en un lugar, necesitamos usar preposiciones
de lugar. Debajo del ejercicio 9 tiene una tabla de preposiciones de lugar o Prepositions of
Place. Estudie la tabla atentamente.

(True =T) o falsas (False = F). Considere como punto de referencia que est de pie en Eaton
Avenue.
Compruebe sus respuestas al ejercicio 10 del libro en la pgina 29 de esta gua de estudio.
En el ejercicio 11 (Reading & Writing Targets, Students Book 1, page 14) deber formular
preguntas sobre el Super Sports Centre y contestarlas con respuestas cortas. Recuerde
usar preposiciones de lugar. Por ejemplo:
Is there a cafeteria at the Super Sports Centre?
Yes, there is.
Are there two swimming pools at the Super Sports Centre?
No, there arent. There is only one swimming pool.
Study Tip
Recuerde que para hacer preguntas con there slo necesita utilizar las
frases Is there para sustantivos en singular, o Are there para sustantivos en
plural. Por ejemplo:
Is there a cafeteria? (Cafeteria es un sustantivo en singular)
Are there two swimming pools? (Swimming pools es un sustantivo en plural)
Para reforzar su aprendizaje puede revisar: Grammar Reference 6 (pgina 24 de esta gua).
En Grammar Reference 7 (pgina 25 de esta gua), podr observar otro uso de There is/are
en combinacin con palabras que nos indican cantidad (much, many, any, some, a lot).
Existen en ingls sustantivos contables y no-contables. Dependiendo del tipo de sustantivo y
de la naturaleza de lo que queremos expresar (oracin afirmativa o negativa, o pregunta),
podremos usar algunas de estas palabras que indiquen cantidad. El cuadro que le
mostramos brinda ejemplos de este punto.

El acceso a este Quiz estar disponible desde el viernes 1 (12m.) hasta el sbado 2 de
octubre (12m.).
Indicaciones
Para rendir este Quiz realice los siguientes pasos:

Ingrese a su Curso Comprensin Lectora en Ingls Ciclo 1: Elemental a travs
de la plataforma educativa Paideia PUCP http://paideia.pucp.edu.pe/pucpvirtual
2.
En Unit 3: Join the Club!, haga clic en Quiz 1 para ingresar a la evaluacin. Lea
atentamente las indicaciones y recomendaciones que se detallan en la misma.
3.
El Quiz 1 se encontrar activo desde el medioda del viernes 1 hasta el medioda del
sbado 2 de octubre. Pasada esta hora no podr acceder a ste ni enviar sus
respuestas. Una vez que acceda a l, contar con un tiempo de 60 minutos para
responder las preguntas planteadas, por lo tanto le recomendamos distribuir bien su
tiempo para que pueda responder toda la evaluacin.
