1.what explains
the growth of
renewable energy
capacities in the
states?
2.how and
to what extent do
political factors in
the states
influence their
renewable energy
development?
3.How do
regulatory
institutions affect
renewable energy
deployment
outcomes?
5.Do the decision-
making
mechanisms of
regulators matter
for renewable
energy?
4.How do
competing
interest
groups exert
influences in this
policy arena?

1.To investigate
the competing
forces driving the
development of
renewable energy
in the
American states.
2.To formulate a
framework of
state renewable
energy politics
and develop a set
of hypotheses
regarding the role
of politics,
policies, and
prices in
renewable energy
development.
- estimate a
statistical model
based on a panel
data set
that covers most
of the relevant
policy, politics,
and energy
variables for the
47
continental states
from 1990 to
2008.
-The modeling
strategy used is a
fixed-effect vector
decomposition
(FEVD)
model (Plmper &
Troeger, 2007,
2011).
-In measuring
renewable
technology
adoption in the
states, a measure
that captures the
percentage of
renewable energy
capacity in terms
of the entire
electricity
generation
capacity portfolio
was used.
-The results
indicate that
renewable energy
development is
influenced by
regulatory
institutions, the
party affiliations of
the governor and
legislators, and
the
professionalism of
the
legislature,
accompanied by
the effects of
various policy
instruments.
-further research
on the interaction
among the types
of politics is
needed.
-Current literature
presents several
issues that merit
further discussion.
Although there
are some links
from the literature
on renewable
energy policy
adoptions and
implementations
to social science
studies of these
processes,
theoretical
development is
limited. Much of
the current
literature on
renewable energy
development is
equivalent to
program
evaluations that
isolate a program
from its political
context.

1.Which energy
sources are
renewable?
2. Which energy
sources should
Italy invest more
in the future?
3. How Italy
consider wind
energy?
1.This study aims
at understanding
peoples
preferences about
wind energy in
order to foster the
installation of new
power plants in
Italy.
-This study
applies the choice
experiment (CE)
methodology
(Batsell and
Louviere, 1991;
Hensher, 1994;
Louviere,
1988a,b, 1991;
Louviere and
Hensher, 1982).
-The
questionnaire was
administered to
the respondents
via web. The
application
handling the
survey and data
collection was
custom developed
in order to provide
a smooth user
experience and
resemble a paper
questionnaire.
-Given the open
access nature of
the internet
questionnaire
respondents
were invited to
respond to our
survey through
paid
advertising14 on
two internet
channels: Google
AdWords and
Facebook
Advertising.
-the researchers
targeted the
advertising
campaign at
Italian residents.
-There was a total
of 389
respondents.
-According to the
researchers
results the
majority of people
perceive wind
energy positively
and prefer
offshore wind
farms. People
recognise the
importance of
preserving
landscape and
think that wind
turbines do not
improve its
beauty. In this
respect the
installation of new
wind farms can
be considered a
secondbest
solution in terms
of landscape
preservation, but
a first-best
solution if other
aspects are taken
into account.
-the conclusions
drawn on tourism
impact and house
prices should be
validated by
further research
on real case
studies applying
different
methodologies like
the travel cost
method for tourism
and hedonic
pricing for house
prices in the Italian
context.

-The researchers
sample cannot be
considered
representative of
the Italian
population
especially with
respect to age.
-The sample
considered has a
lower mean
age than the
Italian population
and therefore the
results obtained
should be
interpreted
as the
expectations of
younger people
rather than those
of the overall
Italian population.

1.how do
embedded local
stakeholders
come to accept or
reject the siting of
a renewable
energy facility in
their town?
1. To know the
stakeholder
attitudes towards
a possible
renewable energy
installation.
-The researchers
reached out to as
many of these
stakeholders as
we could through
cold calling,
resulting in a total
of sixteen in-
depth interviews
of two types: eight
with Forestville
residents and
another eight
background
interviews with
outsiders to the
community
who had general
knowledge of the
wood products
and energy
industries in the
state.
-In-depth
interview was
performed
-The researchers
informant
provided us with
the names of 30
key citizens,
officials, and
business
people in
Forestville, a
veritable whos
who of this social
system that also
represented
a wide range of
political positions
and perspectives.
- The researchers
conducted
interviews at
participants
home or work
place and were
able to observe
them in their
own
surroundings.
With their names
and sometimes
gender changed
to ensure
confidentiality.
It was found out
that the
interviewees
did seem to
portray their
personal positions
through linear
thinking and
models, but in
their interactions
the system itself
reflected the
features expected
of a complex
adaptive system.
-Further
exploration on the
axis-of-tension
concept, in
particular, could
expand on the
researchers
project by shifting
industry or sector,
sample
composition or
size, geography,
community,
timeframe, and
other aspects of
the studys scope.
They hope that
other researchers
will find the topic
to be interesting
and worthwhile,
perhaps a step in
a hopeful direction
for sustainability
and enhanced
partnership
amongst business
and society.
-As in many case
studies, validity
and
generalizability
are limited due to
the relatively
small sample, and
the parochial
nature of the
researchers
sample, industry,
and state.
- The lack of
longitudinal data
was another
limitation, in that
the researchers
were not able to
trace changes in
individual
attitudes or the
axes of tension as
the system
evolved.

Survey

Group, llc
2010-2011
1.What are the
benefits of
renewable
energy?
2.what is
renewable
energy?
3.What is global
warming?
1.To assess
consumer
attitudes and
awareness of the
renewable
energy and power
sectors in India.
-Interviews were
conducted in
English and in the
local language,
Kannada.
Questionnaires
were prepared in
both languages.
-A total of 509
respondents were
interviewed for
this survey. The
survey was
conducted face-
to-face due to
limitations of
technology in
some areas that
were surveyed.
Overall, it was
found that there is
a general lack of
education and
understanding
about renewable
energy, though
the people
surveyed were
very enthusiastic
about renewable
energy concepts.
Survey
respondents were
more aware of
Solar than other
renewable energy
technologies,
though this was
primarily due to
awareness of
solar water
heaters.
Awareness of
wind energy was
surprisingly low.

-Future
researches should
include the
economic effects
of such renewable
resources.
-the number of
respondents is
low compared to
the total
population of
india.

The
sample size was
calculated from a
total population
estimated to be
140,000 in the
borough of
Reading. An
ultimate valid
sample size
would be 700
minimum, given
80/20 split of the
population, 5%
standard error.
However, they
increased their
sample to 1000 in
keeping with
other industrial
surveys so that
our results could
be compared with
them at a later
date.

-Solar energy is
slightly more
favoured than
wind energy
-From their
matrix, some
correlations
showed
significant
relationship
between two
variables.
Support for wind
energy was
correlated with
support for solar
energy.
The data has
generated
preliminary
findings, yet does
not identify a
particular group of
people who
consistently
support each
selected variable.
Running further
regression models
will demonstrate if
any patterns
emerge, thus they
can extrapolate
the type of people
most likely to
support renewable
technologies. they
will also look at
network effects
and lifestyle
implications on
this data, both of
which has
received a
growing interest.
-There was a
discrepancy of
those with no
formal
qualifications, but
the Labour Force
Survey included
other
qualifications that
may not be
formal.
-The age
structure of the
general
population of
Reading is that a
large proportion
fell between 20
and 39. In their
study, they
reported that the
majority of those
answering the
questionnaire
were between 30
and 49.
