he human !eing"s #ourse of life #orresponds to the soul"s state of
maturit$ at the time of its em!odiment on earth% that means% God
so delineated its earthl$ life that it pro&ides the soul with the !est
possi!ilit$ for higher de&elopment.
'f the human !eing has the interest of his soul at heart he will
indeed ma(e use of e&er$ opportunit$ and rea#h his goal while he is
still on earth% he will adapt himself to the eternal Deit$ !$ li&ing a
wa$ of life a##ording to God"s will.
But he #an also let all opportunities pass !$ without ma(ing use of
them% and this signifies spiritual standstill% a defi#ien#$ in his
de&elopment. )nd this short#oming shall !e !alan#ed out again%
therefore life often ma(es great demands on him whi#h re*uire all
his strength if he wants to #ompl$ with them.
+e is effe#ti&el$ offered another opportunit$ to pra#tise neigh!ourl$
lo&e insofar as something is e,pe#ted of him whi#h re*uires all his
will !ut whi#h presupposes helpful neigh!ourl$ lo&e.
'f he li&es up to these re*uirements he must a#ti&ate his will and
wor( for the !enefit of his fellow human !eings. )nd this a#ti&it$
#an lead to the soul"s maturit$% !e#ause its dri&ing for#e is
neigh!ourl$ lo&e and this is the most effe#ti&e means to attain
maturit$ of soul.
'f the human !eing pra#tises neigh!ourl$ lo&e from an earl$ age% he
will use e&er$ opportunit$ offered to him for his spiritual
ad&an#ement% for then he will also !rightl$ and #learl$ re#ognise
the meaning and purpose of his earthl$ e,isten#e.
'f% howe&er% he is half-hearted and sluggish and if his heart is
hardened towards his fellow human !eings" suffering% then he will
also let e&er$ possi!ilit$ for de&elopment pass !$% he will onl$ thin(
of himself and ignore his fellow human !eings" hardship% then he
will also li&e in #omplete ignoran#e of his a#tual tas( on earth and
therefore will not #ons#iousl$ stri&e to as#end.
't is possi!le that the soul% prior to its in#arnation as a human
!eing% #an alread$ ha&e !een e,#eedingl$ willing% and this
willingness led to its earthl$ life in whi#h it #an attain a &er$ high
spiritual le&el% for a##ording to its will God pro&ides it with the
opportunit$ to !e#ome a#ti&e.
hus the human !eing will find life relati&el$ eas$ insofar as his soul
will not offer resistan#e !ut willingl$ stri&e to fulfil the
#ommandments of God !e#ause it re#ei&es strength as a result of
its willingness. For it is the strength of lo&e whi#h results in a#ti&it$
of lo&e again.
) willing soul does not resist #arr$ing out lo&ing deeds !e#ause lo&e
dwells within it and !e#ause a lo&ing heart will #onstantl$ stimulate
lo&ing a#ti&it$. )nd therefore he will !e offered an a!undan#e of
opportunities% regardless of how he uses them.
he less a person resists his inner urges the sooner the soul will
mature% for then it will !e #onstantl$ dri&en to #arr$ out deeds of
lo&e% and thus the soul graduall$ #hanges into lo&e%
it #omplies with its tas( on earth% and e&er$ e,perien#e #ontri!utes
towards its higher de&elopment. For the soul"s earthl$ life is
predetermined depending on its will% whi#h it #an therefore #o&er
with great su##ess.... so that it will attain the maturit$ on earth
whi#h allows it to enter the (ingdom of light immediatel$ after its
ph$si#al death....
