Knitted Together

"...speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up into Him in every way who is the head, into Christ, from whom the whole
body, joined and knit together by every joint with which it is supplied, when each part is working properly, makes bodily
growth and upbuilds itself in love." Ephesians 4:15-16 RSV
"For Thou didst form my inward parts, Thou didst knit me together in my mother's womb." Psalm 139:13 RSV
First Presbyterian Church 10612 Dayton Pike, Soddy Daisy, TN 37384 Phone 423-332-2327
Welcome Reverend Mark Sco and his wife Toni
to our congregaon. Reverend Mark began
September 1, 2014. Installaon services were
held on Sunday aernoon, September 28.
From our Pastor:
The word knit has special signicance for us at First Presbyterian Church of Soddy Daisy. One of the
unique things about our small local congregaon is the kning circle led by Dora Sowell who is a very lively
96 year old. Miss Dora teaches a group of church women in her home on two Monday Nights each month
the
age-old domesc art of kning.
The Biblical writers David, the composer of Psalm 139, and the Apostle Paul, the writer of the leer to the
Ephesians, also think of God as one who does some very skillful intricate kning in both physical and in
spiritual ways. Indeed, the Lord knits as no one else can! He knits us together physically as embryos while we
are being formed within our mothers body and He knits us together in Christ as a church-body.
Our re-started Newsleers name is: Knied Together because we are knied together! We are
connually knit together by the Holy Spirit in worship and prayer, in fellowship and study of His Word, and
whenever we serve our neighbor in His name!
This Newsleers goal is to display how beaufully the Lord has knit us together as His congregaon.
Knied Together will try to keep us all together as the Lord intends for us to be one Church-Body in Jesus
Christ. We will share our work for Him with each other and inform each other of opportunies for fellowship,
study, worship, prayer, and service.
As we grow as His congregaon here in Soddy Daisy, we will constantly ask our Savior and Lord Jesus
Christ to knit persons and families into our church-body whom He is calling to new life through our church.
Because He lives,
Mark

Campus Ministry at UTC:
Since the Presbytery of East Tennessee has had to cut back on funding for Campus Ministry, the Presby-
terian Women of the Presbytery of East Tennessee increased their annual giving to this Ministry. Campus
Ministry has locaons on the campuses of UT Knoxville and UT Chaanooga.

In addion, the women of local congregaons prepare and deliver hot lunches and snacks for young Pres-
byterians, away from home, who seek the comforng (and many mes necessary) free hot meals. The
Pres House at UTC also oers a safe place to study, rest between classes (nap, watch television, play
ping pong or video games, etc.) and Bible studies and discussion.

The Soddy Daisy PW will deliver lunch on Monday, January 5, 2015. The students have asked if we could
provide beef stew, cornbread and dessert. At this me, the head count is 60-65. Be expecng a call for
help as we get closer to this date. Feeding our young people...its a good thing!!
