Size: Small (Medium, Large, 1X). Pattern is written for
smallest size with changes for larger sizes in parentheses.
Materials:
Rope: 3/4 to 1 diameter, 52 (56, 60, 64) inches
Worsted weight yarn:
8oz beige / tan / light bRndn (A)
8oz light beige / off white (B)
Size G / 6 (4.25mm) crochet hook
Size K / 10 (6.5mm) crochet hook or size needed to
obtain gauge
Gauge: With larger hook, and with 1 strand each of A and B, held together, 10 sc and 10 Rows =4
Abbreviations:
ch =chain yo =yarn over
sc =single crochet sl st =slip stitch
sc2tog =sc next two stitches together st =stitch
Neck & Shoulders:
Note: Neck & Shoulders are worked in continuous rounds, with 1 strand each of A and B held together
throughout. Use stitch marker or loop of yarn to mark beginning of rounds.
Prepare Rope: Cut rope into two 26 (28, 30, 32) inch sections. For each piece, sew the ends together to form
a circle. 2 circles formed.
Rnd 1: Work 108 (120,132,144) sc over one circle of rope [see Fig 2].
Rnd 2: Ch 2. Working over second circle of rope, sc in each sc around. [see Fig 3]
Rnd 3: Sc2tog around. [54 (60, 66, 72) sc]
Rnd 4: Sc in first st, [sc2tog, sc in next st] 17 (19, 21, 23) times, sc2tog. [36 (40, 44, 48) sc]

Rows 4-21 (23, 25, 27): Repeat rows 2 and 3, 9 (10, 11, 12) times more. [26 (28, 30, 32) sc]
Row 22 (24, 26, 28): Repeat row 2. [27 (29, 31, 33) sc]
Row 23 (25, 27, 29): Ch 1, turn, sc in each st across.
Next 13 (15, 17, 19) Rows: Repeat last 2 rows 6 (7, 8, 9) times more, then repeat row 22 (24, 26, 28) once
more. [34 (37, 40, 43) sc]. Mark first stitch on last row worked as point Y for joining (see Fig 1)
Row 37 (41, 45, 49): Ch 1, turn, sc in first 10 (11, 12, 13) st, sl st in next st, leave remaining st unworked.
Next Row: Do not ch 1. Turn, skip sl st, sl st in first st, sc in next 9 (10, 11, 12) st. When finishing, buttons
will go on this row.
Next Row: Ch 1, turn, sc in first 8 (9, 10, 11) st, sl st in next st. Finish off.

Front: worked with 1 strand each of A and B held together throughout.
Rows 1 - 37 (41, 45, 49): Mark side of first stitch on row 1 as X for joining (see Fig 1). Repeat same rows
of Back. Mark row 2 as right side.
Next Row: Do not ch 1. Turn, skip sl st, sl st in first st, sc in next 2 (2, 3, 3) st, ch1, skip next st, sc in next 3
(4, 3, 4) st, ch 1, skip next st, sc in next 2 (2, 3, 3) st, sl st in next st, leave remaining sts unworked.
[2 buttonholes made]
Next Row: Ch 1, turn, sc in first 8 (9, 10, 11) st, sl st in next st. Finish off.
Finishing:
Using Fig 1 as a guide, line up neck/shoulders with front, holding right sides together. Starting at X and
working through back loops on neck and edges of rows on front, whipstitch pieces together. J oin Back the
same way, starting at Y. Sew buttons onto back as shown, so that they line up with button holes on front.
Weave in ends.

3) Draw up a loop from under the rope
4) YO on top of rope
5) Pull through both loops on hook
6) 1st sc made. Repeat steps 2-6 for remaining sc.
