“GRIEVANCE HANDLING PROCEDURE”

STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

Pratibha Syntex Pvt. Ltd. (PSPL), a part of the well-diversified Vikram


Group, launched its operations in the year 1997. PSPL is based at Pithampur
Industrial Area near Indore in Madhya Pradesh, Central India. PSPL is an
India's first vertical manufacturing set up, Pratibha made its foray into organic
farming in the year 1999. The organic cotton cultivation project by PSPL is
named Vasudha - (Hindi for The Earth). This project is certified by SKAL
International of The Netherland. It is spread over 60000 acres of farmland.
More than 7600 farmers are associated with the project. In the following year,
the company adopted forward integration into Knitting-Dyeing-Garments in
2000. Today, Pratibha is proud to be an Integrated Textile Company having a
turnover of Rs. 12.5 crores and interests in raw cotton, cotton yarn, synthetic
yarn, knitted fabric and garments. It enjoys the unique distinction of being the
largest organic cotton producer in India. Pratibha has an enviable record and
unmatched position in the industry. It is the only process certified plant in the
Indian sub continent, for producing organic cotton as per the guidelines of
North American Draft Organic Fiber Standards, and the entire procedure is
certified by SKAL, Netherlands. Pratibha exports its products to many
countries, which mainly include USA, UK, Austria, Egypt, France, and
Switzerland. It has manpower strength of about 3000 employees. There are
over 25,000 indirect employees.

PSPL had setup a new plant (Garment Division) in Dec 2007, at faridabad.
This unit headed by Mr. Jaspreet Singh, who is a president of this company. Due
to new setup there is no grievance handling procedure has been framed, so if
any minor/major problems has arisen, employees are not clear how it has been
solved Or whom to be contact? Then staff as well as workers are directly go to
HOD’s cabin withought any restriction, some times HOD’s are irritated and
soughed to concerned supervisor/incharge. Outsider/Vendors are also not clear
who to be contact to solve their problem.

WHY IS THE TOPIC CHOSEN

I have joined with PSPL in August 18,2008, as a Manager HR. I have been
observing that the people who are working in this organization are feeling
frustrated and not able to concatenate their job, so they are not given their full
out put, unlimitedly company’s production has been halted. I am deeply
concerned with the well being of my old organization and would therefore, like
to scientifically analyze the reasons and suggest remedial measures to the
management.

WHAT CONTRIBUTION WOULD THE PROJECT MAKE AND TO


WHOM

Result of my survey and analysis would provide a very useful input to the
management of PSPL who are already ceased of the problem. They have
welcomed my effort and are looking forward to collecting all available data in
this respect for examining the problem in totality.

Objective

The objective of my project is “to evaluate the grievance handling


procedure of the employee in pratibha syntax pvt. Ltd (PSPL) and
recommend measures to improve the same

METHODOLOGY
