BACKGROUND

1.1

Purpose
The purpose of this document is to outline the general procedures for enabling HSUPA service in WCDMA
BTS.

1.2

Scope
This document applies to Nokia Siemens Networks Flexi WCDMA BTS. The working assumption in this

GENERAL PROCEDURE FOR HSUPA ACTIVATION

2.1

Configuring HSUPA parameters in the Node B.

Preparation Checklist:
Ensure that there is sufficient license capacity in NetAct License Manager for the following license:
HSUPA BTS Processing Set

2.1.1

Recommission the WBTS with HSUPA parameter settings.

Define the amount of HSUPA Processing Sets according to the planned value.

2.1.2
When multiple sites are to be configured, CM Editor/plan download can also be used to
change the HSUPA parameters instead of recommissioning using BTS Site Manager.

2.1.3
Afterwards, verify that the HSUPA Processing Set license has been successfully
downloaded to the Node B using NetAct SW Manager or BTS Site Manager.

HSUPA ACTIVATION

2.1.4
According to 3G-BTS-SW-TN163, the BTS needs to be reset after online change of HSxPA
processing set. This requirement applies only to sites running on WN7.0 EP1.

HSUPA activation in RNC

2.2.1

Ensure that the HSDPA and HSUPA-related licenses are present

Related features are also required to be enabled in the RNC at the minimum:

RAN763: Basic HSDPA with QPSK and 5 Codes

RAN764: HSDPA 16QAM support
RAN852: HSDPA 15 Codes

HSDPA Upgrade from 5-10 Codes

HSDPA Upgrade from 10-15 Codes

RAN826: Basic HSUPA
RAN1470: HSUPA 2 ms TTI

2.2.2

Prepare CM plan to change the HSUPA parameters in the WCEL level:

Note: WCEL-level parameters to be defined to enable HSUPA depends on the maximum HSUPA bit rate required
and the maximum number of HSPA users supported in a cell.
Example of parameters to be enabled:
HSUPAenabled (True)
HSUPA2MSTTIEnabled (True)
MaxTotalUplinkSymbolRate (5760)

2.3

Verification

2.3.1
Check from Element Manager that the WCELs are in Working state and HS-DSCH and EDCH operational states are enabled.

2.3.2

Perform drive test to verify the basic KPIs.
