Job Title: Senior RF Systems Engineer

Location: Home-Ofce based role!

Duration: 6 months 24 months

We are designing a Greenfeld network (new, from scratch, for a well-funded
private organization who owns their own spectrum).

Primary Responsibilities:-
Commdex is seeking a senior level RF Engineer with a wide variety of experience in
network design, optimization, build-out, testing, and management. The ideal candidate
has a deep understanding of RF systems from the node and RAN level to the base
station, through gateways, and beyond. The ideal candidate is also interested in working
on a next generation network, supporting a Greenfeld build, network trials.

Your interpersonal skills are superb, with an ability to relate to RF design engineers,
network deployment personnel, network technicians. You have the ability to do what is
right for the network and direct activities of feld operations and engineering staf through
written best practices to speed network deployment and bring sites online. You are part
design engineer, part systems engineer, and part optimization and test engineer. This
role is unlimited in scope as the network is brand new, with a new technology, and
expanding at a rapid pace. Below are just a few of the projects and tasks you will
participate in and lead:

RF System Design:-
Understand link budget components and their impact on RF coverage
Make recommendations for RF best practices
Assist in proposing hardware changes (manage RFQs)
Interface with Site Acquisition and RF Engineering to guide both teams in working
optimally and efciently with each other
RF Systems Engineering:
Learn the new RF base station, controller, gateway, and CPE functionality in depth
at manufacturers on-site location become an expert at confguration, command line
interface
Become the RF subsystem SME and make product enhancement recommendations
based on feld trials
Write technical documents to describe system operation and propose best practices
for deployment
Become the SME for network management, system functionality, performance data
logging
RF System Performance and Testing:-
Understand commissioning, provisioning, programming of all new network
components
Supervise feld trials and write feld test plans
Write base station commissioning plans
Supervise coverage testing and suggest performance enhancements to the RF
network
Work with feld operations to resolve troubleshooting issues during installation
Write technical briefs explaining best practices
Work to ensure initial trial system installation and commissioning is 100% functional

This role is a home-ofce based role but will require heavy travel, up to 75%. Travel to
RF equipment manufacturer, customer, site, and NOC locations will be required. The
right candidate will be up to the challenge of working on something new, not undertaken
by the RF industry to date!

Technical Skills Requirements:-
7-10 years RF design and optimization experience
Experience with technology changes and Greenfeld builds
Ability to communicate efectively across disciplines
Ability to write technical plans and documents
Owns his or her accuracy in work
Works independently to lead large projects

Educational Requirements:-
BS/MS EE/CS/ME
