on this occasion ! want to present the "alternative power". why ! chose the topic of "alternative
power" on the occasion of this presentation# yeah ..., ! think is very reasonable, because in these days
we often heard or even e$perienced it myself, namely the rotating blackouts by %&', which caused
electricity shortages. ut it all can be prevented, if we use alternative power.
(ctually there are several kinds of alternative power generation, among others)
*he first is, solar power +solar cell,
*hese plants utili-e sunlight as a source of electricity producers. *his is very suitable and applied in the
tropics, including !ndonesia. *he main tool to capture, change, and producing electricity is a
%hotovoltaic . module . solar cell panel. /ith the tool of sunlight converted into electricity through a
process flow of negative electrons and positive in the cell module. 0esults from the flow of electrons
will be a direct 12 power can be used to fill the battery . batteries. *he average solar cell module can
generate a voltage 12 to 13 412 and strong currents between 0.5 to 6 (mpere. Module also has a wide

suitable for use in coastal areas, coastal and mountainous.

*he third is hydroelectric. *he plant takes advantage of water flow as a source of electricity
producers. *he main tool is the generator and turbine. /ith this turbine, a generator can move so as to
generate electrical current. *he plant is in 1 hour can generate electrical current 200 to 1000 /att. *his
is not any plant can be used, because the field that will be installed must have a high water flow and
stable. *o move the turbine to be turned, at least must have a 0.00: water debit 0.01 to m8 . s and the
height of water 10 to 22 m. from the surface of the turbine. ;ust as wind power, this generator can
produce a greater flow, and re<uires less investment than the solar cell. Suitable areas of this plant is
watershed and dam.
*he advantage of this alternative power plants are, first, without fuel, so pollution free, second,
can hold more than 10 years, fle$ible, and of course environmentally friendly.
