WHY THEATRE FOR B-SCHOOL?
"Most of our students who come in have been taught in a very, very non-artistic way as
they've come up through the business world, a very, very linear way," says Mark Powell, an
associate fellow at the University of Oxford's Sad Business School. He has used
Shakespeare's plays to press senior executives in his leadership classes to think about their
work differently.

At Cornell Universitys theatre is conducted through CITE programs. The objective of the
program is to create safety around highly charged workplace issues, facilitating honest
dialogue, self-awareness and organizational learning on four levels: personal, interpersonal,
group and institutional/community.

At MITs Leadership Centre, an innovative course has been designed to practice leadership
under the theme Leadership as Acting. It has leveraged the centres focus on Learning by
doing

connecting to them personally and theatres is a platform that helps to experiment

In the words of Adriana Mnuchin, The theatre is an intimate way of understanding self
through expression. It helps to examine leadership and management better. It is a lens
through which human nature, at work, at war and at play can be best understood.
