A universal language

The idea of a universal language had been discussed since the

Middle Ages. The scientists opinion about it was that the language
would be a key to understanding the universe. Nowadays this
subject has reached another level of problems and everyone thinks
about the idea of talking the same language everywhere in the
world. In my opinion it would be a benet to the world and there are
several reasons that an articial international language would be a
good choice.
!irst" articial languages have no homeland" and they are not
borne out of e#periences" as are national languages$ therefore" they
do not bring a national culture with them$ instead" they bring a
common international culture with them.
Another major reason is that the grammar" spelling"
pronunciation" and synta# could be made entirely regular" and
therefore easier to learn than those parts in a national language. To
make it just as easy for people from all language backgrounds to
learn" di%erent elements common to all or most languages would be
combined" and di&cult pronunciations could be eliminated.
'espite apparent pluses to an articial international language"
there are some minuses. A major problem is that they can tend to
have strong biases towards one language family or another. Also" an
articial language may not be able to e#press our feelings and
thoughts as well as a national language. National languages
developed from the need to e#press those very thoughts and
feelings" changing over time$ an international language would not
be able to change" and therefore may become obsolete. The ideal
tenacity of an international language itself is (uestionable) language
by its very nature changes" so a completely regular language is
unlikely) it could easily break up into dialects.
To sum up" an articial international language could be a benet
if we are referring to the ease of learning and the feeling of
something new" but it could be a problem for the ones who think
they lose the e#pressivity in saying something. *ince the problems
could be easily resolved by creating some dialects I think it would be
a good choice for the world.
