Minutes of the seminar conducted by Agilent on the Application of LCMSMS in
forensic toxicology at JW Marriott Marquis Hotel, Dubai on 3 rd June 2014. Note: Attended by 1. Dr Moutasim Ibrahim Sulaiman 2. Dr Mohammed Idris
1. Reached the venue of Seminar around 9.30 am 2. Registration has been done at 9.45 am. 3. Welcome note and a brief overview of Agilent products by Product specialist Mr. KLM Prasad from 9.45 to 10.15 am. 4. The main technical presentation was given by Dr Jennifer (from DTO lab) on the role of Mass Spectrometry in forensic toxicological analysis and challenges with the special emphasis on the synthetic cannabinoids. (10.15 am to 10.45 am) 5 Break (10.45 am to 11.00 am) 6 Dr Jennifer presented on the analysis of synthetic cannabinoids in oral fluid by using LCMSMS. (11.00 am to 11.30 am) 7 Dr Jennifer presented the advantage of LC-qTOF in the analysis of anorectic agents (weight loss) products. And discussed about the analysis by sibutramine in commercially available samples by using LC-qTOF. (11.30 am to 12.00 pm). 8 Break (12.00 am to 12.30 am) 9 Dr Jennifer briefly discussed about the different kind of forensic toxicological samples, their collection and packaging in accordance with UNODC protocol. And also given brief about the different sample preparation strategies and their limitations and final confirmation by GCMS and LCMSMS. (12.30 pm to 1.45 pm). 10 Lunch Break 11 i. Agilent product specialist gave brief overview of FTIR in the screening of seizured drugs. ii. Dr. Jennifer presented the overview of Mass Hunter software and its advantages. iii. In final session all the eminent forensic experts from across the gulf region discussed their issues related to forensic toxicology and gave suitable suggestions. iv. Finally the seminar comes to an end with notes of Thanks by Agilent team. (2.45 pm to 4.00 pm).

1. Reached the venue of Seminar around 9.00 am 2. Registration has been done at 09.10 am. 3. Welcome note and a brief overview of Agilent products by Product specialist Mr. Ajit Subramanian from 09.10 to 09.30 am. 4. The main technical presentation was given by Dr John Upton (Agilent, Germany) on the latest developments in GCMS and GCMSMS and their Application in Forensic toxicology, dope control and clinical research. (09.30 am to 10.15 am) 5 Break (10.15 am to 10.30 am) 6 Dr Shaun Bilsborough (Agilent, Germany) presented about newly launched Agilent 6495 LCMSMS with the emphasis on the advantages of new LCMSMS compare to previous models and its application in forensic toxicology, food analysis, environmental analysis and clinical research. (10.30 am to 11.30 am) 7 Dr Nick Nugent (ACD lab, Canada) given the brief about the scope of the ACD labs and presented about ACD Mass Spec-Software in the interpretation of the mass spectrum and elucidation of the structure of the compounds. (11.30 am to 12.15 pm). 8 Dr Uwe Noetzel (Agilent, Germany) gave presentation on the latest advancement in ICP-MS and ICP-MSMS. And their application in elemental analysis in different matrices likes body fluids, body tissues, environmental and food samples. (12.15 pm to 12.45 pm). 9 Prayer break (12.45 pm to 01.15 pm) 10 Mr Peter (Gerstel, Germany) presented on the challenges in the sample preparation and different technologies used in sample preparation like SPE, SPME, Dynamic headspace-GC, Thermal desorption. And their compatibility with analytical instruments like GCMS, LCMSMS. (01.15 pm to 02.00 pm). 11 Dr Shaun Bilsborough (Agilent, Germany) given presentation on LC-TOF and LC-QTOF, and their application in the analysis of unknown screening of drug of abuse and poisons based on the accurate mass measurement and with the use of Mass Hunter software tool. (02.00 pm to 02.45 pm). Finally the seminar comes to an end with notes of Thanks by Agilent team.
