Are you among those who nose Fulham?

Greg Hands, MP for Chelsea
and Fulham, is supporting a
new initiative to keep Fulham
residents informed about events
in the local area.

Two Fulham mothers, Lara
Soetekouw and Claudine
Church, have just launched
Those Who Nose Fulham
www.thosewhonosefulham.com, a website and newsletter listing
things to do in Fulham. Both women are Fulham residents with young
children at school in Fulham and both have a nose for
entrepreneurial ideas and business.

Those Who Nose Fulham is a free on-line calendar and weekly e-
newsletter listing all the latest events in Fulham. It is FREE to
subscribers and FREE to anyone who would like to share their event
with the rest of Fulham. The email they receive will only list events for
the next 10 days, no other news, editorial or advertisements, and it is
for Fulham only.

Those Who Nose Fulham was launched at the end of August this year
by Lara and Claudine after hearing about many good local events too
late. Following further research it became clear that there was an
absence of a single platform to publicise Fulham only events, big and
small and so Those Who Nose Fulham was created.

Co-founder Lara Soetekouw said: We were frustrated of only hearing
about some great event happening on our doorstep when it was too
late, or of not knowing there was a Chelsea match and getting stuck in
traffic. We wished somebody would alert us with an email. When we
looked around and couldnt find it, we decided to do it ourselves.

Greg Hands MP said I am very happy to be supporting Lara and
Claudine with their initiative. I think its a great idea. We have many
fantastic events happening each week in Fulham, and to have them
all one easy to read place will be very useful. Having visited the site, I
found it very comprehensive and straightforward to use. I hope local
residents will make good use of both the website and newsletter, and I
wish Those Who Nose Fulham every success.

The site covers all local events from art exhibitions to farmers
markets, theatre productions to football matches. It also includes
information on local school open days and half term dates and local
traffic disruption. Although it its early days, so far Those Who Nose
has been very well received, particularly from local businesses and
organisations who are keen to promote their events and can do so for
free.

Co-founder Claudine Church added: So whether its donning your
wellies for the New Kings Road or Bishops Park Farmers Markets,
enjoying a recital at one of Fulhams many glorious churches, or
avoiding car parking pressures when Chelsea or Fulham are playing
at home, you will now have a handy weekly reminder delivered right
under your ! nose.

For more information visit www.thosewhonosefulham.com or email
Lara & Claudine at thosewhonose@gmail.com.

New figures show Conservatives long term
economic plan is delivering job security
for Chelsea & Fulham and the country

Greg Hands MP has welcomed new figures showing 765 fewer people
are claiming Jobseekers Allowance in Chelsea and Fulham since
2010, a 40% drop. Over half of the new jobs came in the last year:
since September 2013 in Chelsea and Fulham there have been 367
fewer people unemployed, a fall of 24%. This means more people in
work, with the security of a regular job and a brighter future ahead of
them.

People are moving off benefits and into work across London, with over
half a million (512,000) more people in work compared with at the last
election.

Across Britain, this adds up to the largest annual fall in Britains
unemployment since records began down by 538,000 in the last
year, and falling below two million for the first time since 2008.

Jobs are being created in Chelsea and Fulham in places like the
Chelsea App Factory which has been designing, building and testing
smartphone and table applications since the companys creation in
2010. This fast growing company currently employs around 70
members of staff.

Greg said: These figures are great news, confirming that 765 fewer
people in Chelsea and Fulham are relying on benefits since 2010.
This means a brighter, more secure future for more and more people
with the security of a good job and a regular pay packet.

Ed Miliband predicted our long term economic plan would lead to the
loss of a million jobs - and now he can't understand why
unemployment is falling. This has happened because of our action in
Government: The Conservatives are backing small businesses and
enterprise with lower jobs taxes and better infrastructure, while
reforming welfare so work always pays.

As these figures show that plan is working, delivering financial
security for hardworking taxpayers and their families in Chelsea and
Fulham, who can look forward to the future with greater peace of
mind.

Greg Hands MP: Record Adoption Figures
Mean More Children Can Get a Secure and
Loving Start in Life

New figures this week have shown that more than 5,000 children have
been placed in loving, stable homes across Britain in the last 12
months an increase of 26 per cent on the previous year.

This includes 20 new adoptions in the last year locally in
Hammersmith and Fulham, an increase of 25 per cent compared with
last year. Children are also being moved out of care and into loving
families at the fastest rate since the last General Election. In 2010,
less than 10% of looked after children were adopted each year in
Hammersmith and Fulham; today that rate has risen to 13%. This
compares to a London-wide average of 10% each year.

Official figures from the Department for Education show that
Conservative reforms are building a world-class adoption system,
which places children with their new families more quickly.

The Conservative led Government have:

Made adoption easier, by stopping ethnicity being prioritised
over other factors - like the ability to provide a stable, loving
home.

Made it easier for adoptive parents to foster a child first so
children can move in with their adoptive family much earlier.

Forced councils to tell prospective adopters about their
entitlements.

Made extra school funding available for all children adopted
from care.

Overall, national adoptions have increased by 63 per cent in the last
three years, from 3,100 in 2011 to 5,050 in 2014.

Chelsea and Fulham MP Greg Hands said: "Its great news that the
number of children adopted from care has risen to the highest level
yet. That means more children in a secure and loving home, able to
get a better start in life.

"The Conservatives in government have been quite right to take the
common sense action needed to make adopting easier, for the benefit
of children and parents.

"In our own area the number of children adopted has increased from
less than 5 per year in 2010 to 20 in 2013-14. Thats more local
children benefitting from the love and support of being part of a family."

First World War remembered in Kensington
& Chelsea

Visitors to Kensington Town Hall can find out about the role of
Chelsea residents during the First World War at an exhibition in the
Council Chamber foyer from Wednesday 15 October until Wednesday
12 November.

The exhibition, which is part of the Chelsea Societys commemoration
of the Great War, looks at the beginning of the conflict, which saw
young men enthusiastically joining up for the London Irish Rifles as
crowds on the street cheered them, through to Peace Day and a
victory parade down Sloane Street.

A football used by the London Irish Rifles to play German troops on
Christmas Day 1914 is part of the exhibition. The role of woman on
the home front is also featured.

The Mayor of the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, Cllr
Maighread Condon-Simmonds said: The exhibition is free and it is a
great opportunity to get a more personal view of the Great War and its
effect on the people and places in Chelsea.
