1 INTRODUCTION
1.1 Scope
The MetOp-SG instruments Documentation Requirement List [DRL] specifies the minimum list of
documents to be delivered in the course of the MetOp-SG instruments projects, with a particular
focus on deliveries required for the formal Customer reviews. This list should not be considered, by
the MetOp-SG instrument contractor, as being exhaustive, particularly with respect to the
deliveries required from lower tier contractors and suppliers.

The Customer reserves the right to request additional documents and/or interim deliveries of
specified documents, as deemed necessary to ensure full and timely understanding and/or visibility
of the instrument design evolution or verification status.

Further interim deliveries should be foreseen
- to support the timely definition and implementation of the operational documentation for
the MetOp-SG instruments;
- to support the timely definition and implementation of the MetOp-SG Ground Segment
with respect to satellite monitoring and control and data processing facilities;
- to support the relevant MetOp-SG satellite prime contractor with respect to the process of
timely and consistent analytical and physical integration of the instruments with the
relevant satellite.

This document is supported by the MetOp-SG Instruments Document Requirements Description
(DRD), [AD18], providing a preliminary definition of the expected content of each document
specified. All DRL and DRD references are identified by {}, e.g. {ins-PM-01}.

For the recurrent instruments, deliverable documentation shall focus mainly on the management
and implementation of the recurrent AIT activities, the associated demonstration of the instrument
verification and model specific performances, characteristics, parameters, etc.

Update and revision of design documentation will only be required in case of enforced design
changes or where specific data is required to complete the preparation for and implementation of
the recurrent MetOp-SG satellite LEOP, commissioning and routine operations and associated
system performances.

Throughout this document, the following terms are used:
- ESA to refer to ESA as the top level customer for MetOp-SG;
- the Customer to refer to the relevant MetOp-SG satellite Prime Contractor, who
represents the immediate customer with respect to the MetOp-SG
instrument Prime Contractor;
- the Supplier to refer to the MetOp-SG instrument Prime Contractor;
- the Project to refer to the specific MetOp-SG instrument project.

For consistency across the MetOp-SG programme, the defined DRL references are the same for all
MetOp-SG instruments, with the exception a unique prefix code as defined above. In the
subsequent tables the Instrument Code is identified as ins, which shall be replaced by the specific
Instrument Code for a given instrument, e.g. instead of ins-PM-01, MWI-PM-01 shall be used
for the MWI instrument, 3MI-PM-01 for the 3MI instrument, etc.

The Supplier shall respond to the DRL ensuring completeness and consistency of his
documentation with the families of documents defined above.

3.3 Document Format And Contents
In the subsequent tables, the last column remarks makes reference to a document requirement
description defined either in a general standard (ECSS) or in the specific MetOp-SG instruments
DRD.

3.4 Document Delivery Format
All DRL documents shall be delivered to both the Customer and ESA in electronically generated
and native searchable PDF format (scanned pages only accepted for hand written documents, e.g.
minutes of meetings, and in specific cases where no original electronic version of the document is
available, such as the case of very old documentation). Furthermore, PDF documents shall have
their Table of Contents, where present, available as PDF bookmarks.

Upon the Customers or ESAs request (e.g. when a portion of documentation needs to be imported
in Customer's documentation), the Supplier shall also deliver the native word/excel version of the
documents, even though it is understood that the only contractually binding document will remain
the PDF version.

All drawings shall be generally provided in A3 PDF format, with additional A0 format for very large
drawings (e.g. grounding diagrams, overall schematics, etc.). In addition, one paper copy shall also
be delivered for all drawings.

Where mentioned in the DRL, on-line access to real time up-to-date electronic database or
spreadsheet is additionally assumed (e.g. for NCRs database).

In case of reviews, the Supplier shall deliver:
- for satellite level reviews (instrument inputs), 6 paper copies and 12 sets of
CD/DVD/memory stick;
- for instrument level reviews, 6 paper copies and 12 sets of CD/DVD/memory stick;
- for lower level (subsystem, equipment) reviews, 3 paper copies and 6 sets of
CD/DVD/memory stick.

Deliveries of Review Data Packages shall be to two locations:
- the Customer;
- ESA/ESTEC, Noordwijk, the Netherlands;
- EUMETSAT, Darmstadt, Germany.

The Review Data Packages shall be distributed at least three weeks prior to the review presentation
by the Supplier.

3.5 Documentation Completeness
The current list of documents identified and called upon within the instrument SOW shall be
reviewed and completed as necessary by the Supplier before the instrument PDR, to ensure that:
- all instrument development activities that pertain to the fulfilment of the baseline
requirements are properly documented;
- the final list of documents to be agreed at the instrument PDR is consistent with the
instrument Specification and Plan Tree (a formal update of this DRL will be defined and
agreed prior to Phase C/D Kick-Off).
