This digipak by Rockie Fresh shows how random covers can be although the image

does relate to the title but there is no reason why you would youre your album by
this name, its completely random.
The style of font that is used resembles clouds in the sky as the font has a smooth sort
of flowing feeling, it not sharp and broad it has a calm resemblance to the blue sky in
the background. This style works with the whole of the CD as the picture also
represents calmness and a good well-being. From a hip hop artist like Rockie Fresh
you wouldnt expect him to be associated with this sort of style so also adds variety to
his digipaks.
The two albums to the left are also
by Rockie Fresh, the one on the
bottom being a single called God
is great. Both have a different,
more hip hop style compared to
the main one on this page
therefore I wanted to show this as
you can see the style he normally
aims for.
Electric Highway uses very bright
colours which attract the audience
because of how eye catching the
colours and design is. You can also
see the artist on the cover so you
know who he is as he isnt a really
well known artist. However the
single below it, sticks with simple
colours and more focused on the
imagery as it relates to the singles
title. Also its more complexed and
there is more to look at therefore
not going along with the simplistic
ideas.
Both still include whats necessary.
This digipak uses many different colours which attract attention; they all
complement each other and work well next to one another. The design works
with the colours also as the balloons look like they are floating in the air.
Again its adding variety to the cover by making it bright. Also this is
something I am interested in doing because of the layout and way it looks. I
will need a striking image to get me started however.

The Clear Soul Forces digipak is very basic also however the
complexities of the colours work extremely well, the gold on
white stands out and makes the album look revealing straight
away. Its almost clean in a way because of the colour white.
On the inside the colour grey and white looks vintage because
its almost disguised as a black and white effect. The lighting on
the artists face makes each one of them glow like there centre
of attention.
The actual CD has kept with the same colour scheme as its gold
and white again, however there is a brushed effect used,
making the gold colour look cloudy and with different levels of
colour overall.
The style of font on the front cover is
striking because its different to what
people have seen before; it adds some
design to the hip hop group and shows
that they are different from groups that
have previously been successful in this
particular industry of music.
Because the groups name is fairly long
they have kept it central so that it doesnt
take up large amounts of the cover,
leaving space for the title of the album
itself.
The back of this digipak however is completely different, there is a lot more
happening and more of the space has been covered but again the colours have been
followed and are kept simple. The style of font is pure and formal and it includes all
the information that is needed for a CD cover. A barcode, record label and the legal
rights being the paragraph at the bottom.
This digipak has 5 panels whereas the ones we need to create need to be 6 or
more. The information next to each artist tells the audience who they are and what
they mean to the group as a whole. The design/layout of this is really vibrant and
elaborate and works extremely well with all four artists having their own sectioned
area. The dramatic pictures also add to the scene and shows people who they are
and wat they look like.

This is Kendrick Lamars CD cover Sing about me. It has three layers; the layer that is
closest is the black mark across Kendricks face, the title of the CD, the artists name and
the parental advisory logo. The second layer is the visual picture of the artist, kept
simple and straight forward to construct when editing, the shot is a close up of
Kendricks head/face and takes up most of the cd cover leaving little room for the title,
artist name and the logo in the bottom right. The layout works as you can see who the
artist is and everything about this particular album cover is clear and collective. The final
layer is the plain black back ground which works well with the colours they have used.
With Kendrick Lamar being self-centred it shows the audience the artist who has
created this album and restricts room for any extra text as this can be too complicated
for a hip hop album/digipak. In some cases they have kept this CD cover mysterious
because of the gloomy colours and the artist being partly blacked out.
The audience who would be interested in this digipak would already been interested
and know about Kendrick Lamar because of how vague the image is, it doesnt show a
lot and you cant see the artists appearance.
The black background with a hint of dark grey makes Kendrick Lamar look
3D, almost jumping out at the customer making him the star image and
centre of attention. The title, artist name and the explicit logo are
specifically in white as it stands out on the dark layer underneath it, its
the information you need to know that is clear. The black background
would be what I would want on my digipak cover because you can put
anything on top of it and it will look effective as it does here.
The picture to the right is the rear
of the CD, still simplistic but
effective however I feel as
though it looks untidy with the
song titles being different and un
proportioned. The messiness
suggests how much hip hop
artists care about the design, its
mostly about their music that
matters.
The colours have been kept the same
so there is similarity and no confusion
and there is a barcode which is
essential and is what I must include on
my digipak including legal constraints.
