TORY 38%, FORD 29%, CHOW 22%; OTHER 3%, 8% UNDECIDED

TORONTO, October 17th, 2014. A new Mainstreet Technologies poll of Torontonians nds John
Tory holding onto his lead. The poll found Tory with 38% (-4), Doug Ford at 29% (+1) and Olivia
Chow at 22% (+3). 8% (-3) of respondents were undecided and 3% (+3) will vote for a diferent
candidate; the poll had a margin of error of +/- 2.06%.
With 2,265 respondents, this is one of the largest polls of the Toronto Mayoral Election. Similar
polls were conducted in previous weeks by Mainstreet Technologies. For this poll Mainstreet
made 2 changes; Someone Else was added as an option for respondents, and, language was
changed to reect that some respondents may have already cast a ballot.
Among decided voters, Mr. Tory leads Doug Ford by 11%, 43% to 32%, with Olivia Chow at 24%.
Among those self-identied as certain to vote, he leads 42% to 25%, a diference of 17% with 8%
undecided, and 22% voting for Olivia Chow.
"John Tory continues to lead the race said Mainstreet Technologies President, Quito Maggi.
There has been some movement but that is to be expected after major advertising campaigns
have started. Nevertheless, the dynamics of the race remain the same.
At this point, John Tory's main opponent may be voter complacency, he has led for months and
some supporters may take the victory for granted and slip back to Chow as a Ford win becomes
less likely or choose not to vote at all." he nished.

Methodology
The poll surveyed a random sample of residents in the City of Toronto by Interactive Voice
Response (IVR) on October 16th, 2014. The questions were; how likely are you to vote in
Torontos municipal election? (*Certain or already voted, Likely, Might, Unlikely, Not Eligible)
Thinking about the race for Mayor, if an election were held today, for whom would you cast your
vote? (Olivia Chow, Doug Ford, John Tory, Someone Else, Undecided; order randomized).
Respondents were asked to indicate their age and their gender.
