FUTURE ASPECT OF CFB BOILER






Long term operating experiences of CFB boiler has proven that it has
very bright future and able to replace PC boiler completely in economically
and environmentally acceptable manner.

Countries like USA having approximately 50% of their boiler is
CFBC and other European countries have also good amount of CFBC boiler

Even in Asia our neighbor country china has surprisingly 80% of their boiler
is CFBC as shown below:





In India various countries are evolved in manufacturing of CFBC boiler such
as:

BHEL-Lurgi collaboration
THERMAX
Alstorm
Foster Wheeler
Thomson etc.

Future of CFBC Boiler:

5.1 Supercritical CFB Boiler:

Supercritical CFB boilers ranging from 450MW(e) to 600MW(e) are already
in constructions stage.
So in future even larger MW CFB Based unit can be seen.

5.2 Stringent Environmental Rules:

Today environment is a major concern in all countries around the
world and TPS are major source of dumping pollutants (like SOx, Nox, CO
etc.) in environment.

And use of FGD/SCR/SNCR system is very expensive affair for PC
boiler. So CFB boilers have ability to reduce the pollutants in a cost
effective and environmentally friendly manner.

5.3 To Utilize Worst Quality Of Coal:

In order to utilize the worst quality of coal containing high ash (up to
70%) it will be effective that we go for CFB boiler instead of PC-fired
boiler, which is unable to handle such a high ash coal.

5.4 Repowering:

In order to replace existing PC fired boiler, economically and
environmentally acceptable manner repowering of PC boiler will play a
major role in near future.
