Equipments Change-over Schedule: Change in Operation Practice

Background:
As we are aware that in the past 156.1MW plant used to be in continuous
operation and on the basis of which our plants equipment change over schedule
was devised and prepared to make sure that the change over is taken in specic
period of time so that no single drive is put in operation for more than that period
of time. !hus" this not onl# establishes the main $ stand%b# concept of operation
but also ensures the healthiness of ever# s#stem and its equipments.

&resentl# we have adopted the '1 da#s ( ) da#s schedule for Main and *tandb#
equipments. +n this main and standb# concept" equipment ,o.1 is generall# main
and the other i.e. ,o.' is standb#. Mains operate for the ma-imum period that is '1
da#s and the other ) da#s. When there is pre%agreed instruction then onl# this
assumption is reversed.
Requirement:
!his has worked well in the past" while the plant has been in continuous operation.
+n present scenario of .as banking" based on the quantit# of gas made available
one unit /either .!11 or .!1'0 is being operated once in a month and that too for
11%15 da#s.. !hus" in this presentl# adopted s#stem sometimes the standb#
equipment doesnt operate for consecutive 2%3 months as gas quantit# for enabling
the .! 4peration reaches the optimum quantit# in the -ed duration and thus .!
regularl# operates in that -ed period onl#.
Suggested:
*ince last few months we run the plant for appro-imatel# 1'%13 da#s a month as
for the rest of the da#s we do gas banking. +n present condition the problem
arises b# following same change over schedule is that" man# a times a drive which
was in service during one start up remains in service during the ne-t start up also
and the other drive remains in stand b# mode" so to avoid such conditions and
enable operation of all equipment" revision has been proposed for the change over
schedule.
!he changes will be done onl# for the following 5i%monthl# schedules" which will be
changed to Monthl# and the s#stem adopted will be all odd months ,o.1 and all
even months ,o.' will be in 4peration. 4nl# in case of an# inadvertent case this
will be reversed with the prior information.
