RE: Program Evaluation
During the month of August and September, the Library Media Specialist of Alcovy High
School and I conducted a program evaluation of the Media Center using the Georgia Department
of Educations 2013 Library Media Program Self Evaluation Rubric. This document serves as a
guide for School Library Media Specialists and key personnel to determine the effectiveness of
its school library media program.

Action Plan
Two items above were chosen to have an action plan created for them. The category Assessment
of Student Achievement was ranked basic and in order to take it from basic to proficient I would
suggest both the media specialist and teachers participate in a professional development about
creating assessments collaboratively. After participating in professional development, teachers
and the media specialist should be able to create effective rubrics that measure student
achievement.

The next ranking the action plan focuses on is flexible scheduling. During the school day, the
media center does have flexible scheduling for teachers and students. To move this ranking from
proficient to exemplary, I would recommend opening the library up to the students 1-2 evenings
a week.
