The existing Node B site may suffer UL interference from repeater due to
shorter distance between Node B and repeaters or improper repeater
commissioning. The sensitivity and coverage of existing Node B will be
decreased due to such repeater interference.

Intelligent mode would detect the RF input from nearby Node B.
Automatically adjust the parameter step by step until it reaches safety.
And last, the intelligent mode will set the parameter.
Intelligent Mode will periodically detect RF input and auto adjust parameters to
avoid noise floor interference toward nearby BTS/ Node B.

UL RF INPUT
Silent Mode
Detection
Enable/Disable
Uplink PA
The silent mode would disable the UL PA when there are no subscribers making calls, and
enable the UL PA when subscribers are accessing the repeater.
The UL noise floor interference towards the BTS/Node B can be minimized.
Silent Mode can provide the idle ratio of the repeater *
Idle Ratio = Total time not being used by subscriber/Total time after on air
Silent Mode records the time that the repeater has not being used by subscribers, and when
the time exceeds the user defined time range, an alarm would be sent to the control center*
Silent Mode
* The function will be available in Q2 2014

Designed for
Operator A
Since the repeater was designed for operator A, when the subscriber of operator A with
same system were making a call, the repeater will activate the UL PA automatically.
When there are other signals go to the repeater, the repeater wont activate the UL PA,
because the repeater was designed only for operator A according to the operator A
frequency.

Oscillation Interference Prevention
The repeater equipped with oscillation detection function, it will detect the
oscillation issue. Once the oscillation phenomenon occurs, it will adjust the
parameter step by step until the oscillation problem is eliminated.

DONOR SIGNAL MEASUREMENT
Isolation Detection
Insufficient isolation of the repeater system would cause self-oscillation.
Normally, isolation value of the repeater system can only be obtained with
actual measurement via a spectrum & signal generator
Remotek Repeater can detects the isolation of the repeater system
Auto set Repeater parameters according to the isolation detected.
80
Advantages
Isolation can be measured.
Self-oscillation can be prevented.
Self-oscillation interference towards Node B can be avoided.
Easier for troubleshooting and maintenance locally and remotely.

Configuration Concept
21
While repeater providing coverage to shadowed area, the
repeater also monitors the donor signal status continuously.
With the possibility of knowing the donor signal status, repeater
performance can be expected.
Existing 600 repeaters in Maxis network can be upgraded by
adding an optional RMU (remote monitoring unit)
Donor Signal Measurement
22
Donor Signal Strength can be measured
Donor Signal Quality can be measured
Donor Signal can either be 2G or 3G
Neighbors Information can also be measured
Potential Co-Channel and Adjacent
Channel problem can be identified.

Donor Signal Visualization*
25
Donor signal measurements
can be displayed in a
diagram.
Engineers can notice the
signal variations via the
curve in the diagram.
* The function will be available in Q2 2014
Donor Signal Comparison*
26
The measured donor signal records can be listed in a table
for comparison purpose.
* The function will be available in Q2 2014
Donor Signal Parameter Alarms *
27
Current signal strength (RSCP/Rxlev) measurement would be
compared with the previous signal strength measurement. If the
signal strength variation exceed the user defined amount, an alarm
would be sent.
Current signal quality (EcNo/RxQual) measurement would be
compared with the previous signal quality measurement. If the
signal quality variation exceed the user defined, an alarm would be
sent.
Signal Strength is worse than a value (user defined), an alarm would
be sent.
Signal Quality is worse than a value (user defined), an alarm would
be sent.
If the primary donor signal SC or BCCH varies (donor signal
unstable), an alarm would be sent.
* The function will be available in Q2 2014
Benefits
28
Optimization
The most appropriate location and direction for the donor antenna
can be find out with easiness, and optimization for the Repeater
system becomes easy.
Troubleshooting
The faulty problem can be located easily which would enhance the
Troubleshooting efficiency
Maintenance
Repeater Status can be maintained effortlessly, since the comparison
of the donor signal and the service signal can be made more
specifically.
Cost Saving
29
No additional equipment needs to be purchased
It may take some time to arrange the trip to site for troubleshooting.
Trip to site for troubleshooting would cost around USD200.
The problem may not always be coming from repeater, and the trip to the
site may be in vain.
The donor signal measurement provide the means to rule out some of the
situations that when the problems are not coming from the repeater.
