"Are you sure?" he asked. "Are you sure it was my age-mate, Ole KoikaiT Ole Tangile -- a puzzled hut pleased old man. Of course Ken was sure. He had sat under this very tree and shared the Good News of Jesus with Ole Koikai. It was under this very tree Ole Koikai prayed to receive Jesus. "Why is it so hard for you to believe?" asked Ken. Ole Tangile's face took on a reminiscent look. "Several years ago," he mused, "three men of my age-set (60 to 75-year-olds) listened to the news of Jesus. We believed what we heard. We were baptized. Shortly after our baptisms, we were cursed by a fellow age-mate. Two of us are still strong in the Lord, and one has fallen away. The age-mate who cursed us was Ole Koikai. How could he now beheve?" "Come with me to his village tomorrow," Ken suggested, "and see for yourself." A group of 13 men accompanied Ken and Ole Tangile the following day. As the day's lesson drew to a close, Ole Koikai was the first to speak. He looked intently at the group of men and asked, "How long have you all known this Good News and, yet, kept it to yourselves?" Some of the men looked nervous; others I suggested that theyhad i only recently heardofJesus. I The air was thick with | tension. i Only Ole Tangile countered the challenge, "Why did you _ curse us?" A subdued Ole Koikai answered, "I didn't ^ understand what you were doing. We hadn't talked about Jesus and baptism ^ together." His voice trailed [_ off. "But now YOU believe this (rood News, too?" asked Ole Tangile. "Yes, I do!" firmly answered Ole Koikai. The tension was gone. The dividing wall was destroyed. "It is late," someone suggested. "Let us drink tea and return home!" "Therefore, remember that formerly you ... were separate from Christ... without hope and without God in the world.
