Final Reflection:
Front Cover
My peer assessment feedback mentioned that I had included Branding for my masthead. I
completed this through using Photoshop and using the well-known 6 logo that is used in the
colleges logo, once I had inserted this I had applied the college colour scheme: purple stroke effect
and the green font. By doing this I sustain a colour scheme for the Front Cover and applied direct
address because my target audience are students of the college aged 16-18 thus they would
recognise the colour scheme and know it is related to affairs of the school.
On the other hand, my peer assessment feedback mentioned that I should improve the front cover
by adding a puff to fit all codes and conventions this is because although I have added cover lines
which have been varied in text size, a [puff would allow me to reach the Excellent high quality
level. I would also like to develop my skills by applying some visual effects to the main image as
currently I have only cropped the image so the image is focussed on the scenery rather than have
more of the scenery. In particular I could have desaturated the colours of the image and used the
History Brush tool and thus choose the colours specifically in the image to highlight so follows the
genre and still applies direct address for example a good choice would be a cyan blue as it gives the
technology / futuristic aesthetic.

Referring to my peer assessment the partner had mentioned that I have made the masthead
noticeable and therefore sustaining the branding. This was a positive aspect of my contents page
because I have entered the same masthead from the front cover of the colleges logo and in the
same area by being in the top left corner. Therefore by doing this I have followed convention and
reached the excellent high quality level. I did this using Photoshop by entering 6 using the Serif Font
that the school uses for their logo and then entering S and FC I had made the 6 so it looks bold and
follows the branding as it is familiar with the target audience and then moved the individual layers of
the S and the FC to finish off the logo. Once this was completed I had applied the stroke effect once I
had merged all of these layers into one, by doing this I had made the logo stand out and follow the
colour scheme of purple and green by changing the font colour to green and then finally the stroke
to purple a 8 Pixel width was applied so it was thick enough to be noticed.
However, a key area that I had failed to produce was anchoring the images in the verbal feedback of
the peer assessment my partner mentioned that it was hard to tell which image belonged to the
particular article thus reaching the minimal level. This was a organisational error because I should
have arranged the images more clearly my intention was to apply the rule of thirds and have images
in the central hotspots but looking back it would have been better for me arrange the images into a
column than in a row and then apply the page number on the image so it is more clear and is
anchored hence readers would not have any issues when interpreting the contents page.
