present the 2014 1:1 Super 8 Cinema Soire. Twenty(+) lmmakers and artists will load their cameras to take part in
this years spectacle, displaying the diversity and creativity of South Florida.

INFORMATION & HISTORY
The original One Take Super 8 Event (est. 2000 by Alex Rogalski) was a way to help create more independent lms
by a variety of artists, while giving the local community an opportunity to view the lms collectively. Using a super 8
camera is centered on the concept that this type of lm, often discarded to antiquity in this digital age, is still an
affordable lm gauge for independent lmmakers. In recent years, more attention has been given to this lm format,
as it once sat on the edge of extinction. Now its effects are seen in major Hollywood lms, music videos, and
mainstream television ads.

Many of the super 8 events, such as the 1:1 Super 8 Cinema Soire, are distinct lm screenings, in that none of the
lms are viewed by the lmmakers before being screened. Participants are not allowed to edit or preview their lms.
Whats shot in-camera, is whats shown. No physical cuts or splices are allowed by the participants, and there is no
opportunity to make changes. This idea leads to exciting, refreshing lms, and a rare opportunity for a public viewing.

Each year the 1:1 Super 8 Cinema Soire, coordinated by lmmaker and FAU lm Professor Shane Eason, has
spawned a cache of great lms, holds an impressive festive atmosphere, and continues to have a loyal following. The
popularity of this noncompetitive event has enabled it to return each year with more lmmakers participating.

This year will mark the 1:1 Super 8 Cinema Soire seventh year in South Florida. Its quite the milestone and a topic
of discussion among those yearning the sight and smell of super 8 lm and the soothing sound of a super 8 projector.

So grab a camera, get some of that celluloid, and shoot for this years 7th Annual 1:1 Super 8 Cinema Soire.

INFORMATION | RULES | REGULATIONS
1. The screening is limited to 20 to 24 participants. The event will be comprised entirely of new work. No old
cartridges or reels will be accepted without prior knowledge of organizers. The screening is scheduled for
approximately 7 p.m. Friday December 5th, 2014 at Jump The Shark. Doors will open at 6:00 p.m. Its open to the
public and donations or a small entry fee will be accepted at the door. Participating lmmakers will get in for free.

2. Participating lmmakers are responsible for acquiring their own operational super 8 camera, tripod, lights, and any
other suitable production equipment. You may nd working cameras online; friends or family; thrift shops; or estate,
garage, and yard sales. Prices for super 8 cameras are relatively reasonable. However, do the research prior to
purchase. Some cameras can be priced quite high. Further, be sure the camera, if recently found/purchased, is
mechanically operational. If you havent already done so, shoot a test roll with the camera and send it to a lm
processing lab. There is nothing worse than burning a roll of lm, sending it off, and having it return with problems
such as light leaks, malfunctioning iris, focus, zoom, shutter, et cetera.

3. You may provide your own cartridge of lm, only if its one of the stocks listed herein. There is no Kodachrome
available. Its been discontinued. If you choose to supply your own lm cartridge, then youll pay a $25 fee for
processing, shipping, transfer and handling fee. If you require a full cartridge of super 8 lm, youll pay a $45 fee for
lm, processing, transfer, shipping, handling fee. All payments must be made in U.S. currency in cash or money
order. Films will ship at one time to the lab for processing. This ensures the entire screening package remains intact
and through to the evening of the screening. The processing lab this year is Pro8mm.

4. All lm orders and payments must be received in a timely manner. This ensures that you receive the lm promptly
and have time to shoot your lm. Therefore, the shooting period will begin 10/07/14 and will run through 5 p.m.
11/07/14. All available lm stocks and payment options are listed herein.

5. As this is a special one-of-a-kind event with specic cinematic characteristics that have been imposed since the
inaugural event, there will be NO opportunity to physically edit or preview your lm prior to the event screening.
Therefore, plan your shoot, keep notes, and use in-camera editing techniques. What you shoot is whatll screen!
Remember, a super 8 cartridge is 50 feet, has a run time of 3m20s, and is projected at 18 frames per second. You
may add 5 seconds to the run time. The organizers will be adding one title card per lm with the participants name.

6. All exposed cartridges must be returned by 5 p.m. on 11/07/14. A lmmakers information sheet and release form
(herein) must be lled out accordingly. Films will be sent to the lab the following day. There will be no late exceptions.

7. If you want SOUND with your lm (which is encouraged) you may provide a live soundtrack at the event or a
prerecorded track to play simultaneously with your lm. If a sound track is not supplied, the lm will be projected
silent. Keep in mind that you will not be able to view your lm before its screened. So create the soundtrack
accordingly. CDs with proper high quality audio (MP3) is the preferred format. The duration of the sound track should
be the same as the super 8 cartridge, 3m20s + 5s for a title card. All sound tracks will be collected and situated
together on one source as MP3s, then cued accordingly to the lmmakers lm at the screening. If youre providing
live music or performance, submit a list of what sound requirements are needed. Youre responsible for providing
musical instruments, additional amps, talent, props, etc. Sound check is available 2 hours before the screening. All
sound tracks must be submitted on 11/21/14 by 5 p.m. Send sound tracks on CD to the address listed above or e-
mail the digital audio le.

Shooting Period: 10/04/14 through 5 p.m. on 11/07/14.
Film In-Can + Release Form: 5 p.m. on 11/07/14.
Film Lab: Films will be sent out 11/08/14.
Audio Component Deadline: 5 p.m. on 11/07/14.
Equipment Staging: 4 p.m. on 12/05/14.
Sound Check + Set Up: 4 p.m. on 12/05/14.
Doors Open: 6:00 p.m. on 12/05/14.
Screening A: 7:00 p.m. on 12/05/14.
Intermission: 7:45 p.m. on 12/05/14.
Screening B: 8:15 p.m. on 12/05/14.
Strike + Clean: 9:00 p.m. on 12/05/14.
Wrap Party: 10 p.m. on 12/05/14. TBD.

As a condition of entering the 1:1 Super 8 Cinema Soire, I/we hereby certify that:

1. I/we, am/are the sole creators of the lm that I/we have submitted to the 1:1 Super 8 Cinema Soire.

2. I/we, am/are the sole and exclusive owner(s) of all rights thereto and there are no disputes regarding the
ownership of the submission. I/we have full authority to submit the lm to the 1:1 Super 8 Cinema Soire.

3. I/we will indemnify, defend and hold harmless the 1:1 Super 8 Cinema Soire, its directors, sponsors, individually
and collectively, including their heirs, personal representatives, ofcers, successors and assigns, from and against all
claims, demands, losses, damages, costs, judgments, liabilities and expenses (including attorney's fees) arising out
of or in connection with any and all claims of third parties, whether or not groundless, based on any lm or other
materials submitted to me by the 1:1 Super 8 Cinema Soire.

4. I/we shall be solely responsible for taking all the necessary steps to establish and protect my/our copyright in the
submitted material, and the 1:1 Super 8 Cinema Soire shall have no obligation with respect thereto. The 1:1 Super 8
Cinema Soire shall have the right to reproduce all or part of said material for use in its publicity, archives, website
and any related distributions directly associated to the 1:1 Super 8 Cinema Soire.

5. I/we hereby grant the 1:1 Super 8 Cinema Soire the nonexclusive right to use my name, photograph, and likeness
in connection with all publicity and promotional activities regarding the 1:1 Super 8 Cinema Soire.

6. I/we understand that the 1:1 Super 8 Cinema Soire will only return lms upon written request and is not obligated
to return my lm or any others I/we have submitted to the 1:1 Super 8 Cinema Soire.

7. I/we understand that this is not a competition, that the 1:1 Super 8 Cinema Soire is a method of offering exposure
and development of lms at a subsidized cost to the lmmaker. I/we understand that no guarantees are offered or
implied that suggest that my lm will be screened after the 1:1 Super 8 Cinema Soire through web site and/or public
screenings and/or DVD distribution. Selections for said screenings and distributions are at the sole discretion of the
1:1 Super 8 Cinema Soire curators, programmers, and directors.

8. I/we hereby agree to abide by the decisions of the 1:1 Super 8 Cinema Soire organizers and staff in regards to all
matters and decisions, including those decisions involving their sole discretion, relating to the 1:1 Super 8 Cinema
Soire.

9. I/we have read all the festival rules, regulations and releases, understand them, and have complied with them. I/we
understand that failure to adhere to the 1:1 Super 8 Cinema Soire rules, regulations, and releases will result in
disqualication from screening, web distribution, or any other related festival activities.

10. I/we agree that additional information and/or items may be requested for future documents, screenings, and
events. To assist with curators and programmers, and if the said lmmaker agrees to all terms listed herein, ll out all
information below that applies to you and your project and/or attach a typed document pertaining to the information.
