employees including 5 Japanese staff. In 2004, a new set of management team.
Another set of management was assigned by 2009. At present there are 7 Japanese

It carries the vision of its Japan Head Office and strives to think from the

Now Ushio has 50 group of company.
B. Strategic Location
Ushio is located at Block 2 Lot 7-8 Phase 3 First Cavite Industrial Estate
(FCIE) Barangay Langkaan II, Dasmarias, Cavite Philippines.
Choosing a location is very important to a company. There is a reason why
a specific location was chosen by the company. As for the Ushio I think they
choose their location because it is safe location. Since FCIE is a big compound
there is a strict security so there will be an invader that is planning any bad to the
company.
Also I think they choose their location because it is near in their major
customer.

B. Competitive Advantage
. Competitive advantage allows a different perspective into its relationship
with business models, innovation and information systems. A competitive
advantage is attainable if the current strategy is value-creating, and not currently
being implemented by present or possible future competitors.
Ushio Philippines Inc., is more competitive and the most leading
manufacturing company among their competitor. They are the best supplier of the
lighting products compare to their competitors. UPI also concerned not only to the
benefits of their business but also to their employees. By working to fulfill its
responsibilities to society, the USHIO Group aims to create a company where
employees can work with enthusiasm and a sense of purpose. As is clear from the
first item in the Groups management philosophy Build both a prosperous
Company and prosperous employees, this goal has remained the same since the
Companys foundation, it can be their advantages to their competitor.

C. Current business production & operation
Formulation of a CSR Action Plan under the Five Pillars
1. Governance
Establish a compliance system that encompasses international
standards in global corporate activities, work to publicize CSR- related
information and establish stakeholder communication, and strengthen and
enhance the governance framework.
2. People
Considering workplace environments, human rights, and diversity
of values in hiring and using human resources.
3. Quality
Initiatives to meet the needs of customers, shareholders, and
business partners based on observance of market rules, and regulations.
4. Environment
Engage in corporate activities to protect the environment. Strive to
meet both environmental and business needs, including addressing global
environmental problems affecting biotopes.
5. Society
Engage widely with society at all levels from local to international,
cooperating and coordinating with other groups in contributing to
education, culture, welfare, development and other aspects of society.

Ushio uses Quality Assurance system. As stated in the
http://www.ushio.co.jp/en/csr/society/customer.html With this move, USHIO
will exploit the good aspects of quality control know-how developed at each
business site, to achieve even more attractive quality and efficiency. This will
enable us to meet the exacting demands for quality required by our lineup of
medical equipment, which has continued to expand in recent years.
Moreover, we will use our accumulated knowhow in making products for
industry to strengthen our activities in line with ISO 13485 (an international
standard for quality assurance of medical equipment. The content of the standard
has been modified from the ISO 9001 standard, and additional requirements
inherent to medical equipment have been added), in order to deepen our
relationships with overseas manufacturing companies going forward and create an
integrated Group-wide quality assurance system.

D. Analysis of the position of the company VIS--VIS technology in operations
and the industry
As the leading maker of light sources for semiconductor photo lithography
systems, the USHIO Group, together with Gigaphoton, has participated from the
outset in the Extreme Ultraviolet Lithography System Development. Association
(EUVA) Project, a national project in Japan to jointly develop a photo lithography
system using EUV accordingly, they are successfully achieving steady progress in
research toward creating a new light source. In addition, Germany-based Xtreme
Technologies GmbH, the leader in commercialization of the product, joined the
USHIO Group in 2005.

III. Experiential Learning
Production and Operating Management is very important in the success of the
business. Its concept will help to understand how a business is working and how the
decision is made and how it is being analyze.
This subject helps me to understand the different concept in business like product
quality, quality control, quality assurance, the capacity planning, process selection and
facilities, design of work system, location planning and analysis and product quality.
In product quality, refers to the ability of a product or service to consistently meet
or exceed customer expectation. Here it is being check the quality of a product it
important to a business that their product is high quality. High quality product can be an
advantage of the company because customer now wants a high quality product.
Quality control is examining control materials of known substances along with
patient samples to monitor the accuracy and precision of the complete examination
(analytic) process. Its goal is to detect error before it is released or introduced in the
public.
Quality assurance relies primarily on inspection of previously produced item is
referred to as acceptance sampling.
Capacity planning is refers to an upper limit or ceiling on the load that an
operating unit can handle. Capacity decisions have a real impact on the ability of the
organization to meet future demands for products and services. If the manager assign a
high load to a station and they can complete these will delay their production.
Also the design of work system is important it is how each station is design for
them to work efficiently.
These entire concepts will help the business to work efficiently, produce high
quality product and to make an effective decision concerning production.
