FUNDAMENTAL ERRORS AND CONTRADICTIONS OF ISLAM

By Derrick Gillespie
PART 1
INTRODUCTION
The religion of Islam, while it strikes many people as one which feeds upon fear, and one which incites hate, it
is also well known for acts of brutal terrorism practiced by certain of its fundamentalists, and it also presents a
striking example of a religion reeking with doctrinal and cultural intolerance. Yet one thing that is absolutely
clear is that it is here, and here to stay, and will remain a continuing challenge not just to leaders of the free
world (like the U.S. and United Nations), not just to Jews in their homeland of modern Israel (a reality rooted in
the biblical history of the rivalry between the descendants of Isaac and Ishmael as sons of Abraham), but will
remain a growing and potent challenge to Christianity as the leading world religion as well.
The religion of Islam is not alone in claiming for itself the title of the only true religion, since this claim to
exclusiveness is also the hallmark of both Judaism and Christianity. But what this presentation will show are the
fundamental flaws inherent in the Muslim religion itself, and in its apologetics, as it seeks to systematically
discredit Christianity and Judaism in order to make itself the sole true religion vested with the Word of God in
the Koran (their so-called sacred Book). What this presentation is seeking to do will be threefold:
1. It will show the faulty premise that the religion of Islam is built upon
2. It will show the faulty claims of the Sacred book of the Muslims, the Koran, and
3. It will answer the major charges of Islam that have been leveled against Christianity, and the Bible itself
Hence this presentation will be in three (3) installments (three parts). Here following is the first installment
in the series, which is aimed at showing the very weak foundation of the Muslim religion in terms of its
relationship to Judaism and Christianity.
ISLAMS FUNDAMENTAL ERROR No. 1
Muslims are very often seen and heard systematically laboring to show that the Bible, both in its Old
Testament and New Testament portions is NOT the Word of God, but is the confused work of several
confused men; men who contradicted each other in so many places, that the Bible, as well as the Old
Testament or Tanach (the sacred Scriptures of the Jews or of Judaism) are both proven to be false (or so
they argue). Yet here is the first fundamental flaw in the logic of the Muslims.
Since the Islam religion claims to be Gods final revelation to the world, and the Koran is the final message of
the final prophet to the world, then it is obvious that if both the Old Testament Scriptures of the Jews, and
the Bible of Christians (made up in part of the Old Testament of the Jews) are not the Word of God then
the Muslim religion has no reliable historical background, no frame of reference, and cannot be a religion
that is the final revelation of anything. If the Bible and Old Testament is false then its record of the
angel Gabriel being an angel of God (who allegedly later spoke to Islams founder, Mohammed), as well as
its record of all the so-called earlier prophets of Judaism who came before Mohammed cannot be
vouched for, since the very writings which record their history, and their utterances (before the Muslim
faith came into being) are deemed to be the work of confused men, and are deemed to not be the Word
of God. So how can Muslims then point to these very same discredited writings as the legitimate
background of their doctrinal and religious history, as well as that which even predicted the coming of the
so-called prophet Mohammed? And if these writings are not the Word of God, where then is the
legitimate record of all these so-called prophets who came before Mohammed? Are they saying that God
had no written testimony from his many earlier prophets, or a written record of the true religion and the
true God for thousands of years until the Koran was written in the seventh century A.D.? If that be the case
then Islam is simply a new and late invention in the history of mankind, and has no roots at all in the Jewish
writings about the so-called prophets such as Moses, Isaiah, Ezekiel, and even Jesus Christ. Thus being a new
and isolated religion (since, as their faulty logic dictates, no other writings previous to the Koran constitute the
Word of God) then Islam must prove its Koran to be the Word of God, and it must be proven to be so upon
principles which CANNOT have any relation at all to the writings of both the Jews and the Christians, since of
course these previous writings were never the Word of God in the first place. The necessary internal proofs
in the Koran that must be evident there before it can be deemed to be the so-called Word of God will be
critically explored in the upcoming part 2 of this series.
Muslims fail to recognize that their claim that Jesus was a prophet is shown (by their own faulty logic) to
have no historical proof or validity, if they discredit the writings of the Old Testament and proclaim them to
not be the Word of God. Remember that Jesus himself pointed to the Old Testament Scriptures (not the
Koran) as they which testified of Him. Jesus knew nothing of a Koran in his time (since it was not yet even
written). So which writings of Moses and the prophets would have testified, PROPHECIED even, of
Jesus if the Scriptures of both the Jews and the Christians are NOT the word of God as Muslims so often
triumphantly claim? See John 5:39 & Luke 24:25-27, 44, 45. Obviously the Muslims cant both have their
cake and eat it, and hence here they are faced with their first inescapable dilemma!
And if the Muslim should realize this fatal polemical error on their part and only allow for the writings of the
Jews to be just historical records, but not that they are the inspired Word of God, how can they account
for Jesus Himself (one of their so-called prophets) pointing to these very same Jewish Scriptures as the
very Word of God which PROPHECIED of his coming? Fancy one of their prophets (Jesus) contradicting the
doctrine of the Muslims themselves as to what constitutes the Word of God!! And how could a book that
was not the Word of God even possess the element of accurate prophecy in the first place (with accurate
prophecy being one of the necessary hallmarks of any book claiming to be the inspired Word of God)?
Luk 24:27 And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he [Jesus] expounded unto them in all the
scriptures the things concerning himself. Luk 24:44 And he said unto them all things must be
fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning
me.
I am smiling here, dear reader, and am sure you know why!
FUNDAMENTAL ERRORS AND CONTRADICTIONS OF ISLAM
By Derrick Gillespie
PART 2
In part 1 of this presentation it was shown that the Muslims are often seen and heard trying to discredit the
Bible and the Hebrew Old Testament, and ever striving to prove them to be the work of confused men, and
hence they are not the Word of God; only the Koran is (or so they argue). However, this reality presents the
Muslim with some very serious implications. The first of these implications was already explored in part 1, and
hinged on the premise that if, as Muslims argue, the Bible and Old Testament are not the Word of God then the
Islamic religion has no reliable background or proof of its background since Islam is claimed by Muslims to be
initially rooted in Judaism and Christianity. This reality is easily seen in the Muslims acceptance of the Jewish
prophets, and even in the acceptance of Jesus who was rejected by Judaism, but accepted by Christians. Here
now is the second inescapable implication of that very faulty argumentation:

FUNDAMENTAL CONTRADICTIONS IN ISLAM No. 2
It may come as a surprise to many to learn that not all Muslims reject the Bible and the Hebrew Old Testament
as the Word of God. In fact, standard Islamic teaching, according to the Koran, is that both the Hebrew Old
Testament, and the Bible were actually the Word of God, but (according to this Muslim view) they have been
distorted and corrupted over time, with (or so Muslims argue) many errors and foreign insertions later added
through translations, etc. What does all this mean in terms of its implications? First of all it betrays the first
contradiction inherent in Islam, because while one set of Muslims reject the Bible and the Hebrew Old
Testament as NEVER being the Word of God in the first place, another set of Muslims believe they were, yet
still rejecting many of their teachings, and or arbitrarily deciding for themselves what portions are distortions,
what portions were not initially in the original text (often without proof), and what portions are contradictory
(often without taking time to see the way the so-called contradictions are reconciled with proper analysis,
and against the background of all the important facts being considered as a whole). Here again Muslims betray
themselves that certainly they want to have their cake and eat it at the same time!! Here are the blatant
contradictions in Islam, and the haunting questions which will forever present themselves to the Muslim:
1. How can we trust Islams outlook on the Bible and the Hebrew Old Testament if they are fundamentally
divided among themselves over the issue of their validity and inspiration?
2. Among those Muslims who accept the Bible and the Old Testament as INITIALLY the Word of God, what
proof do they have of the original form of these Scriptures so as to compare and determine what is
corruption and what are insertions in the later version?. Muslims should be armed with the
uncorrupted or ORIGINAL Bible and or Hebrew Old Testament so they can show to the world what are the
later distortions and insertions. Do they have such a possession? Interestingly such an ORIGINAL proof text
in their possession does not exist!! Period. So their pretense (for thats what it really is) at knowing what
was originally true as opposed to what is not is simply based upon their limited perspectives, and based
upon the utterances of the Koran that gives them a set of beliefs that are unique to their religion, which
came rather late in human history. Thus it is natural to expect that they will decry anything found in the
Bible or Hebrew Scriptures that does not accord with the teachings of the Koran, or with the unique set of
beliefs of Islam. Thus, for instance, the Koran teaches that Abraham actually had attempted, by Gods
command (a test of loyalty), to sacrifice Ishmael, and not really Isaac, as the Bible and Hebrew Old
Testament are united in teaching. Thus it is clear that a Muslim would naturally see the contrasting
Biblical accounts as distortions of the original. But where is Islams ANCIENT original text which
corroborates the contrasting story in the LATER WRITTEN Koran? Interestingly they lack such an original,
but naively point to a later UNPROVEN text, the Koran, written long after BOTH the Hebrew Old
Testament and the Bible, and expect we should just take their word for it that the contrasting account in
the later written Koran is actually the true version.
3. A third problem for Islam in all of this is the fact that Muslims accept both Moses and Jesus as prophets,
and yet it was Moses who gave the account of Isaac, not Ishmael, as being the true son of promise, and
who was the one Abraham attempted to sacrifice; not Ishmael!! In addition, Jesus himself gave no
impression that Moses had it wrong in certain of his accounts, and the actual Scriptures Jesus pointed to as
the Word of God INCLUDE the very same writings of Moses that the Muslims reject in portions as it
concerns who really was the son of promise. And this actually goes to the heart of the issue, in revealing
that the Muslim religion betrays itself as one jealous of and continues to jealously rival Gods true
heritage, since Islam is a religion initially of Arabs (historical descendants of Ishmael) who have always
felt that Ishmael (the son born from the illegitimate union of Hagar and Abraham, and not Isaac begotten
with his wife Sarah) is the true inheritor of the promises made to Abraham. Thus Islam denies the truth,
and proclaims that true religion is not really of the descendants of Isaac (the true son of promise,
according to both the Bible and the Hebrew Old Testament), but from another, Ishmael.
4. An even more haunting reality for the Muslim is the fact that when we look at the Hebrew Old Testament,
as faithfully preserved by the Jews themselves, we do see Scriptures which can easily be shown to point to
Jesus as NOT JUST the Messiah (a matter Jews reject in terms of Christian interpretation), but, even more
than that, they DO prove he was pre-existent as a heavenly being, and thus is Gods divine Son (a matter
Muslims will deny vehemently). Yet despite Jews reject what these Scriptures mean as it concerns Jesus, yet
they have never expunged them from their manuscripts, which have faithfully preserved the original
utterances of the prophets and the Psalms. So where can the Muslim find an ancient text that does not
have those texts which can be pointed to as proving Jesus divinity; texts which even he himself and his
disciples later quoted to prove he came down from Heaven, and was with the Father before he came to
earth? Unfortunately the Muslim has no such ancient text, and only pretends to know what is a written
distortion about Jesus nature and mission, as opposed to what is actually true. No Muslim can escape the
fact that both the Hebrew Old Testament Scriptures as well as the Bible are fully agreed in preserving the
ANCIENT account and teaching that:
(a) It was Isaac who was Abrahams son of promise, and it was through his lineage that Israel inherited
the promises, and thus through that lineage (not Ishmaels) that Jesus the Messiah would be born as
King. Thus Islam contradicts the earlier revelations of the Word of God they claim to support.
(b) Gods Word in the Hebrew Old Testament foreshadowed a LATER full revelation that indeed there is
a plurality of persons OF the Godhead, that Jesus was actually a pre-existent being who was
Jehovahs divine Consort in creation, that the Old Testament already indicated clearly that God does
have a Son, that Jesus, the pre-existing then incarnated Messiah, after being born in fulfillment of
key time prophecies (in Dan. 9), and after dying and being resurrected, would sit on Jehovahs right
hand as the pre-existent Lord of King David, despite he was born in Davids lineage (thus indicating
Jesus divinity with the Father). See Gen. 1:26; Prov. 30:4; Micah 5:2; Isaiah 53:1,5,8-12 with Zech.
13:6,7; Psalm 2:7-9,12; Isaiah 9:6; Psalm 110:1-6 and COMPARE Jews (not pagan Gentiles) later
testifying about Jesus in Acts 2:29-36, in John 1:1-3,14-18, and in Hebrews 1:1-13. Muslims are
certainly hemmed in with these inescapable realities they have no real answer for, except to
desperately try and discredit the Hebrew and Christian Scriptures which do have the above
mentioned clearly documented.
(c) Jesus is repeatedly called both God (in nature), the the Lord (my Lord and my God- John
20:28) and the Son of the living God by the Gospel writers and the apostles right throughout the
New Testament (see Matthew 16:13-17 with Matt. 11:25-28 and Col. 1:15-17), and yet the Koran
only allows for Jesus to be called the son of Mary, and one ONLY created as Adam was, from
dust, and one who was never crucified (Sura 4:157), nor one who has any form of divinity with the
Father. See CONTRADICTORY Koranic examples below:
The similitude of Jesus before Allah is as that of Adam; He created him from dust, then said to
him: "Be". And he was. (Sura 3:59)
"O People of the Book! [Christians] come to common terms as between us and you: That we
worship none but Allah; that we associate no partners with him; that we erect not, from among
ourselves, Lords and patrons other than Allah... Sura 3:64
That they said (in boast), "We killed Christ Jesus the son of Mary, the Messenger of Allah";- but
they killed him not, nor crucified him, but so it was made to appear to them, and those who differ
therein are full of doubts, with no (certain) knowledge, but only conjecture to follow, for of a
surety they killed him not- Surah 4.157
O People of the Book! [Christians] Commit no excesses in your religion: Nor say of Allah aught but
the truth. Christ Jesus the son of Mary was (no more than) a messenger of Allah, and His Word,
which He bestowed on Mary, and a spirit proceeding from Him: so believe in Allah and His
messengers. Say not "Trinity" : desist: it will be better for you: for Allah is one Allah: Glory be to
Him: (far exalted is He) above having a son. To Him belong all things in the heavens and on earth.
And enough is Allah as a Disposer of affairs. Sura 4:171
Notice carefully that the Koran CONTRADICTS the word of Philippians 2, for instance, and rejects the truth
that God can and does have a Son who is a divine Partner equal with Him, yet the Koran (despite itself)
correctly recognizes that it is upon the premise of God having a Son, united and working with Him, that the
Christian teaching of the Trinity is built; and not that Jesus is the Father Himself. No wonder both Muslims
and Jews rejected the Bible teaching that Jesus is the Son of God because they misunderstand!! But this
they do to their own detriment, but especially is it serious for the Muslim whose own Koran obligates him
to accept the word of the New Testament Bible. Evidence of this? Well, here it is. The Koran itself speaks
favorably/acceptingly of the Law or writing of Moses, as well as of the utterances of the prophets and of
the Psalms of the Hebrew Old Testament, and EVEN OF the Gospel writers of the New Testament, as well
as it endorses the divine calling of the Disciples of Jesus. And so Muslims are again faced with an
irreconcilable situation of all these writings and writers presenting biblical accounts and teachings which
CONFLICT with the later teachings of the Koran. So how can the Koran be the continuation of the
revelations of the SAME God who spoke through the Hebrew Scriptures and through the Gospel writers of
the New Testament if the Koran contradicts their earlier revelations? Here is the Korans own admission of
its acceptance of the Bible and Old Testament writings, and proves Islams dilemma in all of this:
"We believe in Allah [God], and in what has been revealed to us and what was revealed to
Abraham, Isma'il, Isaac, Jacob, and the Tribes, and in (the Books) given to Moses, Jesus, and the
prophets, from their Lord: We make no distinction between one and another among them, and to
Allah do we bow our will (in Islam)." Sura 3:86
It is He [Allah or God] Who sent down to thee [Jews and Christians] (step by step), in truth, the
Book, confirming what went before it; and He sent down the Law (of Moses) and the Gospel (of
Jesus) before this, as a guide to mankind, and He sent down the criterion (of judgment between
right and wrong). Sura 3:3
said Jesus the son of Mary to the Disciples, "Who will be my helpers to (the work of) Allah?"
Said the disciples, "We are Allah's helpers!" then a portion of the Children of Israel believed, and a
portion disbelieved: But We gave power to those who believed, against their enemies, and they
became the ones that prevailed. Sura 61:14
5. Lets now explore the claim of Islam that the Koran is actually the Word of God, and that if we reject its
teachings we will die and be lost forever (i.e. suffer hell fire). These are serious claims indeed, and
demand satisfactory proof; not just a passionate declaration of the Koran to be so by a zealous Muslim.
Anyone can echo and re-echo their particular belief, but proving it is an entirely different matter. Christians
are encouraged to prove all things, and this must apply also to the Koran parading itself as Gods final
Message to all mankind. It follows logically that for any book to be proven as inspired it is axiomatic in
theology that it must prove itself divinely inspired by what appeals to the honest searcher as evidencing the
miraculous, evidencing internal harmony, and also evidencing a spirit of love, mercy, justice, and truth that
appeals to the heart and conscience!! These evidences must of necessity be related to:
(a) prophecy accurately fulfilled
(b) internal harmony of its teachings
(c) compatibility with earlier teachings of God in Judaism and, most importantly, with the teachings of Jesus
the Messiah and his apostles
Question: Does the Koran have significant prophecies accurately fulfilled?
Answer: I am yet to see any of real and noticeable significance, and this makes the Bible and Old Testament
far superior to the Koran pretending to be divinely inspired. Why? The Old Testament and Bible are bursting
at the seams with significant prophecies fulfilled so accurately that it blows the mind when they are
explored and seen for what they are. Yet the Koran has no such supporting evidence of its heavenly origin.
Question: Does the Koran evidence internal harmony and presents no contradictions?
Answer: It should be easy for the Koran to reflect internal harmony without it necessarily being a divine
book. The fact that the Koran was written by one man (Mohammad) makes it pale in significance to the Old
Testament and the Bible written by very many different writers over the span of hundreds, even thousands
of years, yet having the same message throughout. The book that would better pass the test of divine origin
is one written by many authors yet retaining the same message throughout, despite many of the authors
never me each other. And the Bible does, along with the Old Testament. Thus it is clear, that if the Koran
was divinely inspired it should have no internal contradictions, since it was written by just one man. Yet
surprise, surprise!! The Koran does have evidences of contradictions despite only one man wrote it. Here is
a prime example:
The Koran says that man was created from a clot of blood.
Surah 96:1. Proclaim (or Read) In the Name Of thy Lord and Cherisher, Who created- 2. Created
man out of A (mere) clot of congealed blood;
But the Koran EARLIER said that man was created from clay.
Surah 6:2 (Also 7:12) 2. He it is Who created You from clay, and then Decreed a stated term (For
you). And there is In His Presence another Determined term; yet Ye doubt within yourselves!
The Koran ALSO says that man was created from water.
Surah 25:54. It is He Who has Created man from water: Then has He established Relationships of
lineage And marriage: for thy Lord Has power (over all things).
Come on Muslims, which is it? These are internal contradictions that indicate the origin of the
Koran was not the mind of God, but the mind of one man, Muhammad. And while Mohammed
alone was the author of the Koran he could not remain consistent? Thats actually laughable!!
Question: Does the Koran conflict with earlier revelations of God?
Answer: There would be no need for me to be making this presentation if the answer was in the
affirmative. It is precisely because of the opposite situation why this author is now speaking to you
dear reader!! Shockingly, while the Koran obligates the Muslim to accept the New Testament as
well as the Old Testament writings as revelations from God, yet the Koran itself has accounts of
events and teachings and principles totally contrasting to the earlier revelations. This again shows
the glaring contradictions inherent in the Koran, and thus not much needs to be said here, since the
evidence speaks for itself. See just one example below (which reveals Islams true spirit of hate):
And fight in the way of Allah with those who fight with you, and do not exceed the limits,
surely Allah does not love those who exceed the limits. And kill them wherever you find them,
and drive them out from whence they drove you out, and persecution is severer than slaughter,
and do not fight with them at the Sacred Mosque until they fight with you in it, but if they do
fight you, then slay them; such is the recompense of the unbelievers.
What a contrast!! Jesus says UNDER THE NEW SYSTEM OF THINGS to love, forgive, and pray
for your enemies. The Koran says to kill them (evidencing it is a religion which incites hate and
violence). If that isnt a different doctrine than what was revealed by Jesus, nothing is!! Need I say
more?
THUS IT CAN BE SEEN THAT THE KORAN DOES FAIL THE REASONABLE TESTS WHICH HAVE BEEN
APPLIED TO THE BIBLE AS WELL, AND IT HAS FAILED MISERABLY!! Enough said on that!
Lets now turn to the major charges leveled against the Bible and Christians by Islam, which has (as
already proven in the foregoing) woefully discredited itself (i.e. Islam) as actually being the true
religion with true worshippers called by the same God of the Old Testament and the New
Testament Bible.
