House okays inclusion of blood type in government-issued IDs

The House of Representatives has approved on second reading a measure indicating

the blood type of every Filipino in the identification cards being issued by the
government.

patients including blood transfusion during medical emergencies.

+assport by the !epartment of Foreign :ffairs "!F:& and +rofessional 'dentification Card
by the +rofessional Regulation Commission "+RC& are also re;uired to indicate the blood
type of their card holders.
%nder the bill, Filipinos are re;uired to secure a certificate from a pathologist to
validate their blood type.
The !epartment of Health "!*H&, in coordination 3ith concerned implementing
agencies, is mandated to formulate rules and regulations for the effective implementation
of the proposed act.
