IELNEI Changing your web server password using telnet requires a modem or network connection. Use Telnet if changing your password from home or from a computer that does not have CRT installed. If you wish to have CRT installed on your office computer, call UCIS at (910) 521- 6260.
PASSWORD GUIDELINES
Password must be between 6 and 31 characters in length. Old passwords cannot be reused. Passwords found in the English dictionary cannot be used. Avoid using obvious passwords (family member, pet, car, sport, etc)
CHANGING YOUR PASSWORD ANYTIME
1. From the Start menu, select Run. In the open box, type telnet webpages.uncp.edu
2. At the "login:" prompt, type your web server username and press <Enter>.
3. At the "Password:" prompt, enter your current password and press <Enter>.
4. At the "$" prompt, type passwd and press <Enter>.
5. At the "Old password:" prompt, type your old or current password.
6. At the "New Password:" prompt, type your new password and press <Enter>.
7. At the "Re-enter new password:" prompt, type your new password again and press <Enter>.
PASSWORD EXPIRATION
Every 182 days (26 weeks) your password on the web server will expire. You will not receive any warning messages. You will know your password has expired when you try to post a page to the web server and you receive the message "Illegal Username or Password, or, when using Visual Page, the message Password not allowed.
CHANGING YOUR PASSWORD AFTER IT HAS EXPIRED

3. At the "Password:" prompt, enter your current password and press <Enter>. You should see the prompt "Old Password". If you do not see this prompt, go to the previous instructions for "Changing Your Password Anytime".
4. At the "Old Password:" prompt, type your old or current password and press <Enter>.
5. At the "New Password:" prompt, type your new password and press <Enter>.
6. At the "Verification:" prompt, type your new password again and press <Enter>.
DISCONNECTING FROM THE WEB SERVER
To disconnect from the web server, at the $> prompt, type exit and press <Enter>. If you should need to forcefully disconnect, click on the Close button in the upper right hand corner of the box, or from the menu, select Connect, Exit.

To start CRT, double click on the CRT icon on the desktop or from the Start menu select Programs, CRT, CRT.
CRT is already configured for you to connect to granpa, papa, baby, lib (UNC Coastal Library Consortium), and www (UNCP's web server). To connect to the web server, double click on www or click once on www and click Ok.

To disconnect from the web server, at the www> prompt, type exit and press <Enter>. If you should need to forcefully disconnect, click on the Disconnect icon in the toolbar, or, click on the Close button in the upper right hand corner of the box, (or from the menu, select File, Disconnect).
NOTE: If you incorrectly attempt to login three (3) times, account is locked. To unlock account, contact UCIS at (910) 521-6260.
