EFL TRANSLATION
Abstract

The goal of EFL Translation Techniques module is to prepare students to understand
spoken and written English and to express themselves confidently, accurately and
fluently. Much practice is necessary to reach that goal and it is carried out through
Communicative Teaching Methodologies focusing in the adult and young adult
education for beginners level and acquiring level A1 for CEF and Breakthrough for
ALTE standards.

With this module students will develop the following skills:

1. Identify translation theories for the learners to be familiar with concepts and
principles.
2. Analyze grammatical rules of source and target languages and techniques for
translation.
3. Read research articles related to translation English- Spanish or viceversa.
4. Contrast situational, linguistic, cultural or textual problems and being able to
solve them.
5. Develop translation exercises from English into Spanish and from Spanish into
English.

For the achievement of the learning outcomes described above, problem solving, project-based
learning and communicative language teaching methodologies will be used in all the lessons.
Students will be able to go beyond information-gap to pair and group work activities to use
English for real communication. Assessment will include formative and summative activities.

By the end of the semester, students will have developed the competencies of the C1- C2 level
in the Common European Framework of Reference.
