The goal of EFL Translation Techniques module is to prepare students to understand spoken and written English and to express themselves confidently, accurately and fluently. Much practice is necessary to reach that goal and it is carried out through Communicative Teaching Methodologies focusing in the adult and young adult education for beginners level and acquiring level A1 for CEF and Breakthrough for ALTE standards.
With this module students will develop the following skills:
1. Identify translation theories for the learners to be familiar with concepts and principles. 2. Analyze grammatical rules of source and target languages and techniques for translation. 3. Read research articles related to translation English- Spanish or viceversa. 4. Contrast situational, linguistic, cultural or textual problems and being able to solve them. 5. Develop translation exercises from English into Spanish and from Spanish into English.
For the achievement of the learning outcomes described above, problem solving, project-based learning and communicative language teaching methodologies will be used in all the lessons. Students will be able to go beyond information-gap to pair and group work activities to use English for real communication. Assessment will include formative and summative activities.
By the end of the semester, students will have developed the competencies of the C1- C2 level in the Common European Framework of Reference.

Module research areas
This module will support the interdisciplinary project developed by the professors from this class which is about the organization of the First Congress for English Language Students. Through this module students will investigate online resources used to translate information from English into Spanish and viceversa. Community service related to the module
In the future students will be able to translate and interpret any sort of documents applying their knowledge about both languages and culture. This module will help students to be able to translate any kind of material they consider useful from English to Spanish at the moment they complete their community service. 6
