BOSTON.COM LIMITED EDITION TOTE BAG SWEEPSTAKES

NO PURCHASE NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN.
TWITTER OR FACEBOOK ACCOUNT REQUIRED TO PARTICIPATE.
Boston Globe Media Partners LLC (Sponsor) is offering a giveaway on Twitter and Facebook where
participants may enter via Twitter or Facebook (Sweepstakes). The Sweepstakes will be announced
via a tweet from the Sponsors Twitter user name (the Tweet). The Sweepstakes details are
provided in the Tweet, such as how to enter, entry deadline, entry limitation, and prize.

1. PROMOTION PERIOD: The Sweepstakes begins on September 30, 2014 at 9:00:00 AM
Eastern Standard Time (EST) and ends on October 14, 2014 at 11:59:59 PM EST (the Entry
Period). Sponsor shall be the official time-keeper for the Sweepstakes, and Sponsors computer
shall be the official time-keeping device.
2. ELIGIBILITY: The Sweepstakes is open to legal residents of United States and DC
(excluding Massachusetts) who are 18 or older and have an active Twitter or Facebook account
prior to participating. Dont have a Twitter account, visit Twitter.com to obtain one for free. Dont
have a Facebook account, visit Facebook.com to obtain one for free. Employees of Sponsor and its
parent, affiliates, subsidiaries, and participating promotion and advertising agencies (collectively,
Promotion Entities), and members of their immediate families (spouse and parents, siblings,
children and their respective spouses, regardless of where they reside) and their same
households, whether or not related, are not eligible to participate. Void where prohibited by law.
Subject to all applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations. Participation constitutes
your unconditional agreement to these Official Rules and Sponsors decisions, which are final and
binding on all matters related to the Sweepstakes.
3. TWO WAYS TO ENTER: Limit one Entry per Twitter or Facebook
account/person/household regardless of method of entry.
a. Follow @bostondotcom on Twitter and reply to Sponsors tweet using the hashtag
@mention#tarptotegiveaway, or
b. To enter via Facebook, like Boston Globe at www.facebook/boston (if you havent already done
so) and complete an entry form and tag a friend using the hashtag @mention#totetarpgiveaway.
Submissions via Facebook and Twitter will be referenced herein individually as an Entry,
collectively as Entries. All Entries must be received by 11:59:59 PM EST on October 14, 2014 to
be eligible for the Sweepstakes. Entries received in excess of the stated entry limitation will be
void and Sponsor reserves the right to entirely disqualify the Entrant who submits Entries in
excess of the stated limitation. Entries generated by script, macro or other automated means or
by any means which subvert the entry process will be void. Entrants who use multiple Twitter or
Facebook accounts will be disqualified. By submitting an Entry, you understand that the Entry
may be posted on Twitter and/or Facebook for viewing by the general public. You agree that the

Released Parties are not responsible for any unauthorized use of your Entry by third parties.
Released Parties do not guarantee the posting of any Entry.
Sponsor reserves the right in its sole and unfettered discretion to disqualify any Entry that it
believes fails to comply with any provision of these Official Rules and/or the Sponsors, Twitters
and Facebook Terms of Service. If there is a dispute as to the identity of who submitted an Entry,
the prize will be awarded to the authorized account holder of the Twitter or Facebook account and
s/he must comply with these Official Rules. The authorized account holder is defined as the
natural person to whom the account is assigned by Twitter or Facebook or an Internet service
provider, online service provider or other organization (e.g., business, educational institution, etc.)
that is responsible for assigning such accounts.
4. RELEASE: You agree to indemnify and hold Released Parties (defined below) and its
parent, affiliates, subsidiaries, and participating promotion and advertising agencies harmless
from and against any suits, claims, losses, damages and expenses, including reasonable attorney
fees, that it may sustain from any breach of a representation or warranty made by the you or the
use of any rights granted by you to Sponsor hereunder.
5. USE OF INFORMATION: By entering the Sweepstakes, you agree that your Entry and any
other personally identifiable information collected or used in connection with the Sweepstakes
may be used by Sponsor in accordance with its Privacy Policy, as posted on www.boston.com.
6. WINNER SELECTION: A total of six (6) potential winners will be selected at random (3
from Twitter and 3 from Facebook) about five (5) days following the end of the Entry Period from
all eligible entries received. Sponsor reserves the right to not award the prizes for the
Sweepstakes if, in its sole discretion, it does not receive a sufficient number of eligible and
qualified Entries. Decisions of the Sponsor are final and binding in all respects.
7. WINNER NOTIFICATION: Potential winners will be notified via Twitter Direct Reply
Message or on Facebook. Entrants using Facebook are responsible for checking to see if you are a
potential winner. If a potential winner does not respond to the winner notification message
within seven (7) days of the date the notice was sent, the prize may be forfeited and, at Sponsors
discretion, an alternate potential winner may be selected for the Sweepstakes. A potential winner
will be required to execute and return an Affidavit of Eligibility and Liability/Publicity Release
within a time period specified by Sponsor. A potential winner is not an official winner (Winner)
until such potential winners eligibility has been verified and potential winner has been notified
that verification is complete. Failure to return all required documents within the specified time
period, the return of a prize or prize notification as undeliverable or a potential winners
noncompliance with these Official Rules will result in disqualification and, at Sponsors discretion,
an alternate potential winner selected for the Sweepstakes.
8. PRIZE: Six (6) winners (3 from Twitter and 3 from Facebook) will each receive a limited
edition canvas tote bag. ARV of Prize $59.99. Any portion of a prize not used by a Winner is forfeited
and no cash substitute will be offered or permitted. Prize being offered is provided as is with no
warranty or guarantee either express or implied by the Sponsor. The Sponsor has not made, and will not
be responsible or liable for, any warranty, representation, or guarantee, express or implied, in fact or in
law, relative to the prize, including but not limited to its quality, mechanical condition or fitness for a

particular purpose. Winner assumes sole responsibility for all costs associated with any elements of the
prize not explicitly included as part of prize description.
Prize may not be redeemed for cash, transferred or substituted except by Sponsor, who reserves the
right to substitute a prize with a prize of comparable or greater value. Limit one (1) prize per
person/Twitter user name or Facebook account. Additional prize restrictions may also apply.

9. GRANT OF RIGHTS: By accepting a prize, you grant Sponsor and its designees the right to use
your name, Twitter user name, biographical information, photo and/or likeness for advertising,
publicity, promotional and other purposes in any and all media, now or hereafter devised, throughout
the world in perpetuity, without additional compensation, notification or permission, except where
prohibited by law. You agree to sign any documents that may be necessary to further affect the
assignment of these licensing rights.

10. GENERAL CONDITIONS: Sponsor, Twitter, Facebook Inc. and its parent, affiliates, subsidiaries,
and participating promotion and advertising agencies (collectively, Released Parties) are not
responsible for lost, late, incomplete, inaccurate, delayed, stolen, misdirected, undelivered or garbled
Tweets, tweets, retweets or entries; or for lost, interrupted or unavailable network, server, Internet
Service Provider (ISP), website, or other connections, availability or accessibility or
miscommunications or failed computer, satellite, telephone or cable transmissions, lines, or technical
failure or jumbled, scrambled, delayed, or misdirected transmissions or computer hardware or
software malfunctions, failures or difficulties, or other errors or difficulties of any kind whether
human, mechanical, electronic, computer, network, typographical, printing or otherwise relating to or
in connection with the Sweepstakes, including, without limitation, errors or difficulties which may
occur in connection with the administration of the Sweepstakes, the processing of tweets, retweets or
Entries, the announcement of the prize(s) or in any Tweet or Sweepstakes-related materials. Released
Parties are also not responsible for any incorrect or inaccurate information, whether caused by site
users, tampering, hacking, or by any equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the
Sweepstakes. Released Parties are not responsible for injury or damage to your or to any other
person's computer related to or resulting from participating in the Sweepstakes or downloading
materials. Persons who tamper with or abuse any aspect of the Sweepstakes, who are in violation of
these Official Rules, or who act in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner as solely determined by
Sponsor, will be disqualified and all associated entries will be void. Sponsor reserves the right at its
sole discretion to suspend, modify or terminate the Sweepstakes (or any portion thereof) for any
reason, including, but not limited to, should any portion of the Sweepstakes be, in Sponsors sole
opinion, compromised by virus, worms, bugs, non-authorized human intervention or other causes
which, in the sole opinion of the Sponsor, corrupt or impair the administration, security, fairness or
proper play, or submission of Entries, and, if terminated, at its discretion, select the potential winner
for the Sweepstakes from all eligible, non-suspect entries received for the Sweepstakes prior to action
taken using the winner selection method indicated in the corresponding Entry.

11. GOVERNING LAW/JURISDICTION: All issues and questions concerning the construction,
validity, interpretation and enforceability of these Official Rules or the rights and obligations of
participants or Sponsor in connection with the Sweepstakes shall be governed by and construed in
accordance with the internal laws of the state of Massachusetts, without giving effect to any choice of
law or conflict of law rules or provisions that would cause the application of any other state laws.
Claims may not be resolved through any form of class action. Venue for all suits will be in federal or
state courts located in Boston, MA.

12. SEVERABILITY: If any provision(s) of these Official Rules are held to be invalid or
unenforceable, all remaining provisions hereof will remain in full force and effect.

13. WINNERS LIST: Winners names will be posted on Facebook.com/Boston.com. You can also
obtain the list of winners by sending a tweet to the same Sponsor Twitter user name designated for
entry. Requests for winners lists received 30 days after the conclusion of the Sweepstakes will not be
honored.

This Sweepstakes is not sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with Twitter or
Facebook, Inc. Neither Twitter nor Facebook are not associated with the Sweepstakes in any way.
Any questions, comments or complaints regarding the Sweepstakes must be directed to the
Sponsor, and not to Twitter or Facebook.
