Cayuga Nation of the Haudenosaunee

The Human Resources Department of the Cayuga Nation issues the following job postings for
positions with the Nation and its enterprises. This is an exciting and historic time for the Cayuga
Nation as we are working hard to bring the Cayuga people to their homeland. There is much
work to be done. Potential employees must be highly motivated, organized, respectful, flexible,
and willing to work in a fast-paced work environment.

Must understand how a traditional Haudenosaunee government operates, upholding the
Unity Council as the functioning government of the Cayuga Nation.
Must be at least 18 years of age. (Note: some positions may have a higher age
requirement)

Housing Program Coordinator
Job Description
The Housing Program Coordinator is responsible for the oversight and development of all public
housing operations at the Cayuga Nation. This includes developing and managing rental/home
assistance programs; creating and upholding lease agreements for housing units and rental
homes; and ensuring safe and adequate property maintenance and constructionon all Cayuga-
owned properties that are within Cayuga Territory.
Qualifications
Must understand how a traditional Haudenosaunee government operates.
Bachelors degree or equivalent years experience in public administration, business
administration, real estate, urban planning, or a related field.
Must be able to set priorities and manage competing demands.
Solid experience with word processing programs, database management systems, and
spreadsheets.
Knowledge of NAHASDA, IHBG and HUD programs a plus.
Excellent communication skills to speak with staff, groups with diverse backgrounds, and
housing tenants.

Housing Program Assistant
Job Description
The Housing Program Assistant reports to the Housing Program Coordinator, responsible in
assisting with the many aspects of administrative and management of public housing operations

Human Resources Coordinator
Job Description
The Human Resources Coordinator is responsible for effective recruitment and retention of
Nation and Enterprise employees. This includes posting available jobs, scheduling and
conducting interviews, and ensuring payroll is done as accurately and as timely as possible. The
HR Coordinator is primarily responsible for maintaining and evaluating all employee policies.
He/she collaborates with supervisors and coordinators to ensure job vacancies are filled and
employees are fulfilling their duties and adhering to Nation policy. The HR Coordinator
proactively address employee grievances and other conflicts through education, trainings, and
ensuring that potential and current employees understand the nature and scope of their work.

Bachelors degree (or higher) or equivalent years of experience in a related field.
Strong decision-making skills, problem-solving skills and conflict-management abilities.

General Coordinator
Job Description
The General Coordinator is responsible for all operations of Cayuga Nation Enterprises. The
General Coordinator will plan, direct and coordinate all aspects of the businesses, ensuring each
enterprise runs smoothly and according to Nation policy. GC is responsible for creating and
getting Council approval for departmental budgets; hiring and training Directors and
Coordinators, who report directly to him/her; overseeing purchasing, banking, and accounting.
Qualifications
Must understand how a traditional Haudenosaunee government operates.
Bachelors (or higher) or equivalent years of experience in a related field.
Superior leadership skills; ability to work independently with little direct supervision.
Strong decision-making skills, problem-solving skills and conflict-management abilities.
Deep understanding of business mathematics and budgeting.
Proven ability to work as part of team: excellent ability to delegate and work with all
levels of management and administration.
Minimum of 5 years management experience, preferably retail.

Assistant General Coordinator
Job Description
The Assistant General Coordinator is involved with all operations of Cayuga Nation Enterprises,
supporting the General Coordinator. Oversees all aspects of day-to-day operations: ensures
budgets are followed, Nation policies are upheld, and business sales goals are met. Keeps
department leaders and Council members informed about budgets, policies, sales, and any other
concerns. Supervises employees and assists in the supervision of Administration staff.
Qualifications
Must understand how a traditional Haudenosaunee government operates.
Associates degree (or higher) in a related field of study or equivalent years of
experience.
Strong decision-making skills, problem-solving skills and conflict-management abilities.
Understanding of business mathematics and budgeting.
Proven ability to work as part of team: excellent ability to delegate and work with all
levels of management and administration.
Minimum of 3 years management experience, preferably in retail.





Lakeside Trading Store Manager
Job Description
The Lakeside Trading Store Manager oversees day-to-day operations and staff. Lakeside
Trading Store Manager is an inspirational leader to staff and responsible for attaining a high
degree of customer satisfaction. The Store Manager must be able to handle and resolve escalated
customer complaints and issues that arise. He/she manages the hiring, training and development
of the staff and inventories all stock. He/she is responsible for ensuring profit maximization
through employee coordination and motivation. Most importantly, it is the manager's
responsibility to handle all of the money at the end of each sales day, making sure that each
employees money is accounted for. The Lakeside Trading Store Manager reports to the General
Coordinator and the Unity Council of Cayuga Nation.
Qualifications
Must understand how a traditional Haudenosaunee government operates.
A bachelor's degree or equivalent years of experience in business administration, public
relations, customer service, marketing management or a related field.
Experience (at least 3 years) in retail in handling the day-to-day operations efficiently.
Experience in multitasking, leadership, and quick decision-making abilities.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to forecast sales and revenue.
Pleasant and active disposition, calm and composed personality.
Ability to strategize.
Proficiency in computers and technology.

Bookkeeper
Job Description
The bookkeeper will handle the fundamental aspects of the Cayuga Nations financial record-
keeping. The bookkeeper will record financial transactions, such as checks written and received;
manage accounts payable and receivable; reconcile bank statements; update the trial balance,
profit-and-loss statement, and balance sheet; assist with budget preparations. He/she should be
familiar with bookkeeping programs and possess strong numerical abilities.
Qualifications
Must understand how a traditional Haudenosaunee government operates.
Attention to detail.
An Associate's degree or equivalent years of experience in accounting, business
administration, or a related field
Knowledge of bookkeeping and generally accepted accounting principles (we use Sage
and will provide the appropriate trainings).
Knowledge of accounting techniques and procedures, including purchase order coding.
Knowledge of maintaining account balances and reporting on their status.
Knowledge of proper preparation of tabular materials, charts and statistical data.
Communication skills to communicate with employees and outside vendors.
Security Coordinator
Job Description
Coordinates all security aspects for the Cayuga Nation security, properties, and Enterprises.
Ensures all properties are secure on a 24-hour basis. Coordinates training and certifications for
security staff. Creates schedules for staff members to ensure 24-hour operation demands are
met. Meets with Cayuga Nation Unity Council on weekly basis to ensure security demands are
met, and any new issues are taken care of. Conducts security supervisor meetings to ensure
appropriate conduct and practices are met by all security staff. Meets with security staff to
ensure all risks are brought to managements attention. Retains relationships and clear
communication with local NY State authorities to ensure peaceful resolutions for both Native
and Non-Native people that reside in the area.
Qualifications
Must understand how a traditional Haudenosaunee government operates.
Superior knowledge of Haudenosaunee Law and traditions.
An Associates degree (or higher) or at least 2 years supervisor or management
experience in a related field.
Strong decision-making skills, problem-solving skills and conflict-management abilities.
Attention to detail in terms of scheduling, basic math, and record keeping.
Proven ability to work as part of a team: excellent ability to delegate and work with all
levels of management and administration.
Outstanding communication skills to speak with officers and agents from diverse
backgrounds.

Education Coordinator
Job Description
Develops and implements educational programs for employees, Cayuga citizens, and community
members. Designs and manages all aspects of a high-school equivalency (HSE) program.
Assists Cayuga citizens and other community members in defining and pursing their educational
goals through career counseling, a HSE program, and by developing other programs. Possible
program areas include: working with technology, applying for college, and workforce training.
Qualifications
Must understand how a traditional Haudenosaunee government operates.
A Bachelors degree (or higher) or equivalent years experience in education or a closely
related field.
Creative and analytic thinker, able to teach concepts from a variety of perspectives.
Knowledge of New York States Common Core areas and recent changes to the HSE
exam in New York State.
Excellent communication and presentation skills.
