Our arrival to Kinshasa became a party and the
welcome was spectacular. All the luggage with
the equipment arrived.

We had to clean the operating room and install the equipment. Each of us did our job.

The First Lady visited us and
took care we had everything
to conduct our mission. We
had all the help of the local
workers at the hospital.

and palate were frst to be attend-
ed. There was a large amount of
them. Helena and Carmen prepared
them.

hallways as the patients approached us
claiming to be operated on. We could
not control them, eager to be selected
among all the patients.
Every time we went out to the garden of the
hospital, more patients. Children with cleft lip,
malformations, tumours, etc. ...

In several occasions we had to release the daily tension. Nacho is a good role model.

tation, we saw cases that
never before had we seen.
Dramatic cases that just
overfowed us. Our heart be-
came smaller each time.
