Senegal 2010
Ninefecha
The Clars Foundation is a
non profit organization whose
main objectives are the fight
against hearing loss and medical cooperation in Thirld
World countries.

The Clars Foundation conducts its projects in emergent


countries, and since 1997,
awards grants to Doctors during specialty training. Among
its objectives, the Foundation
offers financial support to
profound deaf patients of our
country who have been
implanted with a cochlear
implant, and offers training
courses in emergent countries, Asia, Africa and Latin
America.

The Clars Foundation has


been carrying out its humanitarian project in the fields of
audiology, speech therapy and
rehabilitation, otorhinolaryngology, phoniatry, and oralfacial surgery. These tasks
have materialized in several
expeditions
to
India,
Rumania, Moldavia, Ethiopia,
Senegal, Liberia, Cameroon,
Gabon and Mali, with the contribution of medical fungible
material, as well as machinery equipment, and the performance of surgical procedures to patients with no
financial resources.

The Barraquer Foundation


was constituted in the year
2003, as a non profit organization with the aim of contributing in the development of ophthalmology so it can reach
everybody.

The humanitarian expedition


that travelled to Ninefecha
included eleven Specialists,
headed by Dr. Pedro Clars and
Dra. Elena Barraquer. In the
following pages we offer an
overview of the trip.

The collaboration of the Clars


and the Barraquer Foundation
has allowed conduct several
medical expeditions, and reach
many patients from other areas.

This humanitarian mission and


all the rest of activities which
the Clars Foundation organizes are possible thanks to the
professional and financial collaboration of the Foundation

Arrival to Dakar, and after only few hours of sleep, flight to Kedougou.
The humanitarian luggage will need several trips.

After a long trip by plane and road, we finally reached Ninefecha Hospital,
where the local personnel was expecting us and ready to assemble all the
material.

The ORL, Ophthalmology and Anaesthetist teams were ready to begin medical consultation and operate.

We do not waste a minute, everybody collaborates. Both teams begin to visit
