The speaker discusses the effects of air pollution in a speech. [1] Air pollution occurs when harmful gases, dust, and smoke contaminate the atmosphere and make it difficult for plants, animals, and humans to survive. [2] The main effects of air pollution are damage to the human respiratory and cardiovascular systems, which can lead to conditions like cancer, bronchitis, and emphysema. [3] Air pollution also contributes to global warming by trapping greenhouse gases in the atmosphere and causes problems like rising sea levels, melting ice caps, and habitat loss for wildlife.

A very good morning to Dr.Quah our English lecture and my fellow friends. Today, I take this opportunity to give a speech regarding pollutions .As well as u all known pollution is a very common issue that our ear attuned to everyday. There are various type of pollutions such as land pollution, air pollution, water pollution, thermal pollution, noise pollution, radiation pollution and more. But today I am here to mainly share with you about the effects of air pollution. Dear friends, before I am get into my main topic I would like to share some information about what is air pollution really about. Air pollution is refers to the contamination of the air, irrespective of indoor activities and outdoor activities. Besides that, a physical, biological or chemical alteration to the air in the atmosphere also causes air pollution. When harmful gases like carbon monoxide and sulphur dioxide, dust, smoke enters into the atmosphere, it makes difficult for plants, animals and humans to survive because the air becomes dirty. I believe that u all have hear about the immediate and direct harmful effects of air pollution to human body and others before through the mass media or more. First of all, such pollutants cause damage to humans respiratory system along with heart problems. For examples, particulates in these dirty air causes inflammation of the alveoli. It causes our body to produce agents in the blood that increases clotting, which leads to cancer and increased mortality. There also have chances to an individual developed into such conditions as chronic bronchitis and emphysema. Nevertheless, global warming also one of the effects of air pollution. Global warming is sometimes referred to as greenhouse effects. With increased temperatures in whole world because of air pollution due to open burning and more, causes increase in sea levels and melting of ice from colder regions and icebergs, displacement and finally loss of habitat. This been already signalled an impending disaster if action for preservation and normalization are not undertaken soon. In addition, harmful gases as nitrogen oxide also combine with other compounds to help form ozone. In result, eye and lung irritations are increased and lowers the resistance to respiratory illness like chest colds, bronchitis and influenza. For children with asthma, this gas can cause death. Moreover, nitrogen oxide turns into nitric acid, when combine with water, snow, fog and mist, and produces the harmful acid rain. Sulphur dioxide gas also the same. Acid rain can cause great damage to human, animals, land and also concrete. Furthermore, eutrophication is a condition where high amount of amount of nitrogen present in some pollutants gets developed on seas surface and turns itself into algae. This phenomena cause extinction of aquatic animals. Toxic chemicals present in the air can force wildlife species to move to new place and change their habitat. This leads to extinction of their species. In last but not least, Ozone exists in earths is responsible for protecting humans form harmful ultraviolet rays. But due to the presence of unwanted gases such as chlorofluorocarbons, hydro chlorofluorocarbons in the atmosphere causes depleting of earths ozone layer. As a result, problems related to skin and eye will overloaded. Dear audience, the effects of air pollutions are very harmful. So, I do hope you would be aware of this issue and will work in concerted effort to reduce air pollution together. Before I finish my speech today, I also would like to suggest some solutions for air pollution. There are public can use public mode of transportation and try to make use of car pooling. Besides, they must understand the concept of reduce, reuse and recycle, emphasis on clean energy resources like solar, wind and geothermal and finally learn to use efficient devices. Thank you.
