Equipping the Saints for the Work of Ministry in a Frontier Context




In Christ Jesus, then, I have reason to be proud of my work for God. For I will not venture to
speak of anything except what Christ has accomplished through me to bring the Gentiles to
obedienceby word and deed, by the power of signs and wonders, by the power of the Spirit of
Godso that from Jerusalem and all the way around to Illyricum I have fulfilled the ministry
of the gospel of Christ; and thus I make it my ambition to preach the gospel, not where Christ
has already been named, lest I build on someone else's foundation, but as it is written, Those
who have never been told of him will see, and those who have never heard will understand.

.to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the Body of Christ until we all
attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to
the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ. (Ephesians 4:12-13)


I. THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN FRONTIER EVANGELISM AND DOMESTIC
MINISTRY

! Frontier Evangelism is engaging the unreached.

! Domestic Ministry is about equipping the saints for the work of ministry.

! We are called to do both.

! The goal of frontier evangelism is ultimately domestic ministry.

! Frontier missions is our priority until domestic ministry is a possibility.

! I understand our mandate concerning frontier evangelism and domestic ministry in
terms of three questions:

1. What? What is the mandate?
2. Who? Who will fulfill the mandate?
3. How? How do those who are called to the mandate fulfill it?

II. WHAT?

We have:

! A Local Mandate of evangelism and discipleship in the host nation.

! A Regional Mandate of training and mobilizing for evangelism and discipleship for
the Middle East/10/40 Window.

! An International Mandate of advocacy and recruitment for training and
mobilization for evangelism and discipleship in the Middle East/10/40 Window.

III. WHO?

Our ministry mandate will be fulfilled by prophetic witnesses burning with the testimony
of Jesus. These witnesses will serve a local and a regional mandate of frontier evangelism
making disciples of unreached peoples and domestic ministry of equipping the saints.

For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy. (Revelation 19:11)

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be
my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.
(Acts 1:8 ESV)

! Prophetic Singers and Musicians Given to Adoration (Priestly)

! Prophetic Intercessors Given to Prayer (Priestly)

1. Acts 2:42

3. Acts 6:1-4

5. Matthew 9:36-37
6. Luke 2:36-37

! Prophetic Messengers Given to Proclamation (Apostolic)

1. This critical ministry will be expressed through:
a. Apostles
b. Prophets

c. Evangelists
d. Shepherds
e. Teachers
2. These Prophetic Messengers will convey the message in a variety of ways
and through their gifting. They will speak, write, paint, sing, photograph,
produce, and publish.

IV. HOW?

In order to see these kinds of laborers equipped we need:

! A Context in which they can be encouraged, nurtured and fostered

! A Leadership Team that understands and is committed at a heart level to the vision
and these values

! A Message to articulate, inspire, and motivate them with the vision and values

! If we undervalue any one of these three dimensions we wont be able to fulfill our
purpose.
