Greetings Christian Friends:
We arrived in Columbus, Ohio from Lagos, Nigeria via Amsterdam on June
Many friends from the Columbus and Wilmington churches were there to meet
us. We appreciated their very warm welcome and also the Malibu Chevrolet
which all of you wonderful Christian friends provided for us. We would like
to say with the Apostle Paul, "We thank God upon every remembrance of you.
Always in every prayer of ours for you all making request with Joy. For
your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now; Being confident
of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform
it until the day of Jesus Christ," (Philippians l:3f). The car is Just what
we need for all of our traveling during our year here in the states.
The Wilmington Church of Christ prepared an apartment for us at 289 North
Lincoln Street, Wilmington, Ohio 45177> including furniture, food and a
telephone. Our number is (513) 382-1522, We truly thank the Wilmington
church for their warm welcome to our family and also for all of their help
and kindness in preparing for Judy's wedding on the l6th of July.
On July Uth we preached at the Church of Christ in Wilmington, the next
Sunday at Beechwold and Thomas Avenue and the following Sunday at Southwood
and West Hill, all in the Columbus, Chio area. On Friday, July l6th, Judy
became Mrs. Marc Champion. The happy couple reside in Pine Grove, West
Virginia where Marc is minister of the First Christian Church there.
On July 20th we departed from Wilmington for points west for a time of
vacation. We enjoyed a visit with Roy and Martha Blackmore at East
Tulsa on the way to Texas. There we relaxed and visited for three weeks at
the home of our forwarding agent, Carol Scarbrough, who is Marianne's sister.
We attended and preached at Clearview Christian Church while in Dallas,
On our return trip north, we stopped in Idabel, Oklahoma to visit with
Marianne's brother and his family, Jim has been quite ill and we ask your
prayers on his behalf.
On August 13th we returned to Wilmington, Since then we have preached at
the churches in this area, served as missionary speaker for the 4th Junior
high week at Butler Springs Christian Assembly near Hillsboro, Ohio and
preached a revival at the Mt, dive Church of Christ near New Vienna, Ohio,
News from the Smiths in Nigeria is that negotiations are under way with the
government for a Cottage Hospital at Ekori, Please pray with us for a
doctor for this new work. Also, please pray for the Smiths and the con
tinuance of the Search the Scriptures radio broadcast.
