Ventajas
Las imgenes, escenas, ruidos, msica y conceptos que ven los nios en la televisin, podran
contribuir poderosamente a su educacin
La televisin tiene muchas cosas buenas. Gracias a ella los nios aprenden como es el mundo
fuera de su casa, de su colegio, su barrio o de su ciudad. A los nios les apasionan los animales,
se quedan hipnotizados cuando ven un caballo, una vaca o un cordero, la televisin no solo les
permite verlos pasivamente, tambin integrarse dentro de este mundo mgico animal o marino.
Gracias a la televisin pueden observar y vivir como acarician los animales a sus cras, como
alimenta un pjaro a sus hijos o como juegan los peces en el mar. Este medio audiovisual les
permite hacer viajes a otros lugares, conocer los ocanos, la selva, las montaas, el cosmos y
otros lugares inaccesibles que no solo les entretienen, tambin les ensean.
La televisin educa, puede ser un poderoso instrumento de enseanza porque los conceptos les
entran por la vista, los odos y las sensaciones. La televisin bien empleada puede reforzar hbitos
y potenciar valores, como el respeto a los dems y al medioambiente

DESVENTAJAS:
Las imgenes de violencia reiteradas que ofrecen tanto las pelculas como los programas de
noticias, repercuten negativamente en la agresividad de los nios. Esta informacin no slo les
convierte en ms agresivos, tambin hace que toleren o acepten la violencia como forma de
resolver sus problemas, hacindoles insensibles al horror de la violencia.
La televisin puede ensear ideas errneas de la realidad, porque aparece un mundo y una
sociedad, la que corresponde al que hizo la informacin o la pelcula y a su entorno.
Otras veces la televisin ensea un mundo imaginario no real, lleno de fantasas que confunden a
los nios
El 'bullying' o la violencia entre iguales es un fenmeno que se expande en los colegios pblicos y
privados, en los hijos de familia de alto, medio o bajo nivel econmico y social, posiblemente
porque imitan lo que ven en las pelculas de la televisin.
