SYLLABUS , CONTENTS AND COVERAGE Syllabus was quite lenthy since the allocated credit hours were insufficient to cover the complete syllabus effectively and efficiently. However, an endeavour was made to cope with the pace of the semester ,meanwhile, some of the contents were left at students discretion to go through them at their own time .Coverage method was very impressive since essential details were elaborated in the class and rest were left for the student to ponder upon and cover the syllabus effectively.Contents in terms of understanding were enough to give the idea, necessary to establish a network and gaining basic knowledge and for understanding what is happening at different layers of the network and how the information is travelling from a sender to receiver .
UNDERSTANDING OF SUBJECT Subject was taught in effective manner and all possible methods i-e slides,white board etc were used to deliver lectures .But at times speed was bit fast in order to cover the syllabus.Contents of the lecture may be shortened to have a question answer session 15 minutes prior to end of lecture so that students should not carry doubts with them.
DIFFICULTY,OVERLOAD AND PROBLEMS IN SUBJECT Contents of the subject were taught in the manner such that difficulty level was raised gradually which ease in understanding the subject and it never felt difficult in going through the book after attending the lecture. Contents of the subject were no doubt very lengthy which over burdened the students and along with other subjects it was quite hard to cope with the pace of the teacher .Authorities concerned may please be realized that contents of the subject are very lengthy and must be taught in 2xsemesters.
PRACTICALS AND THEIR CONDUCT Practical work can: Motivate students, by stimulating interest and enjoyment Teach equipment skills Enhance the learning of scientific knowledge Give insight into scientific method and develop expertise in using it Develop 'scientific attitudes', such as open-mindedness and objectivity 4
Practicals were very effective in understanding the knowledge imparted during lectures. Practicals were comprehensive and made us understand the very basics of the network and how to check and secure the network from the intruders .Behaviour of the instructor was towards imparting the practical aspects and he had complete grip of different domains of the network and problems associated with it .
ABOUT INSTRUCTOR AND TEACHING A teaching method comprises of the principles and methods used for instruction. Commonly used teaching methods may include class participation, demonstration, recitation, memorization, or combinations of these.The teaching method was very comprehensive and helped us understaning in depth of computer networks and problems associated with it.Use of white board alongwith slides was very helpful .Videos related to the topic may be shown to students to evoke the practical aspects of the topic.
SUGGESTIONS TO IMPROVE CONTENTS OF THE SYLLABUS Contents of the subject were very lengthy compared to credit hours allocated which made the subject cumbersome and burdened the students.Contents may be reduced and divided in such a manner that subject is completed in 2x semester as we have been taught electronic and electromagnetic courses in 2xsemesters.
FRIENDLY ENVIRONMENT IN THE CLASS Environment in the class can be made friendly and more inclined towards learning if gap betweeen teacher and student is diminished. BREAK TIMINGS Break at times was not given between 2 consecutive period which made the lecture lengthy and it was difficult for the class to completely understand the concepts towards the end of the 2 nd class.Breaks be given at specified time so that students get themselves freshen up for the next class and some of the students may kill their doubts during the breaks. PAPER PATTERN In 1 st OHT and Final Exam one question was linked to the other such that if a student failed to attempt 1 question then he can not attempt the other one also. Paper was quiet lengthy to complete in the specified timing thouh open book made it easier .
