1.Conclusion
Meaning Open Source Software
Open source application software is computer software that is available in source code form
for which the source code and certain other rights normally reserved for copyright holders are
provided under a software license that permits users to study, change, and improve the software.
Open source licenses often meet the requirements of the Open Source Definition. Some open
source application software is available within the public domain. Open source application
software is very often developed in a public, collaborative manner. Open source application
software is the most prominent example of open source development and often compared to
user-generated content or open content movements. The term open source application software
originated as part of a marketing campaign for free application software.
Hardware
Computer hardware refers to the physical parts of a computer and related devices. Internal
hardware devices include motherboards, hard drives, and RAM. External hardware devices
include monitors, keyboards, mice, printers, and scanners.
Software
Software consists of carefully-organized instructions and code written by programmers in any of
various special computer languages. Software is divided commonly into two main categories: (1)
System software: controls the basic (and invisible to the user) functions of a computer and comes
usually preinstalled with the machine. See also BIOS and Operating System. (2) Application
software: handles multitudes of common and specialized tasks a user wants to perform, such as
accounting, communicating, data processing, word processing.

2.The latest Open Source OS
Open Source Operating System is the most program that runs on a computer that is free to use,
change and improve the software, and to redist tribute it in modified or unmodified forms. Every
general-purpose computer must have an operating system to run other programs. Operating
system performs basic task, such as recognizing input from the keyboard, sending output to the
diplay screen, keeping track of files and directories on the disk, and controlling peripheral
devices such as disk drivrs and printers.
2.2 Examples of open source OS
Linux Kernel
The Linux kernel is a Unix-like operating system kernel used by a variety of operating systems
based on it, which are usually in the form of Linux distributions. The Linux kernel is a prominent
example of free and open source software.
The Linux kernel is released under the GNU General Public License version 2 (GPLv2) (plus
some firmware images with various non-free licenses
[
), and is developed by contributors
worldwide. Day-to-day development discussions take place on the Linux kernel mailing list.
The Linux kernel was initially conceived and created in 1991 by Finnish computer science
student Linus Torvalds. Linux rapidly accumulated developers and users who adapted code from
other free software projects for use with the new operating system. The Linux kernel has
received contributions from thousands of programmers.

Fedora linux
Fedora is a Linux operating system distribution developed and supported by the Fedora Project,
an open source community formed in 2003 as a partnership between Red Hat and volunteer
contributors. Red Hat Enterprise Linux branches for commercial use are based on Fedora, while
the open source Fedora Linux OS itself is freely available for use and customization.
The most recent release of Fedora Linux, Fedora 18, debuted in January 2013 and is nicknamed
the "Spherical Cow." Fedora 18 utilizes GNOME 3.6.3 for its desktop interface and includes,
among its other new features and additions, UEFI Secure Boot support, KDE 4.9, Xfce 4.10,
improved Active Directory support, and the OpenStack Folsom open source cloud platform.

3.The latest Open Source application software(OSAS)
Meaning open source application software
Application software is a set of one or more programs designed to carry out operations for a
specific application. Application software cannot run on itself but is dependent on system
software to execute. Examples of application software include MS Word, MS Excel, a console
game, a library management system, a spreadsheet system etc.
[1]

The term is used to distinguish such software from another type of computer program referred to
as system software, which manages and integrates a computer's capabilities but does not directly
perform tasks that benefit the user. The system software serves the application, which in turn
serves the user.
Google Chrome
A web browser is a software application for retrieving, presenting, and traversing information
resources on the World Wide Web. An information resourceis identified by a Uniform Resource
Identifier (URI) and may be a web page, image, video, or other piece of
content.

Hyperlinks present in resources enable users easily to navigate their browsers to related
resources. The major web browsers are Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Google
Chrome, Apple Safari, and Opera.

Microsoft Office 2013
Microsoft Office 2013 comes in twelve different editions, including three editions for retail
outlets, two editions for volume licensing channel, five subscription-based editions available
through Microsoft Office 365 program, the web application edition known as Office Web Apps
and the Office RT edition made for tablets and mobile devices. Office Web Apps are available
free of charge on the web although enterprises may obtain on-premises installations for a price.
Microsoft Office applications may be obtained individually; this includes Microsoft Visio,
Microsoft Project and Microsoft SharePoint Designer which are not included in any of the twelve
editions.

Nvidia GeForce GTX 480

ATI Sapphire Radeon HD 5970
Nvidia GeForce GTX 480 is the fastest single GPU
graphic cards in existence. The full Graphics Fermi 100
GPU (GF100) is a marvel of graphical architecture, but
some of the 512 small processing (CUDA) cores had to be
dropped. The GTX 480 then comes with 480 of these
cores, but still manages to give an astounding
performance. Able to play almost every game in the world
with HD gaming with realistic colour, this single GPU
graphic card became the second best graphic card after
ATI Sapphire Radeon HD 5970.

Sapphire Radeon HD 5970 is the best
graphic card available for PC gaming up until
this day. This extremely powerful video card has
two GPUs on-board and a massive 2GB of on-
board memory. Combined with a quality
motherboard and processor, users will
experience amazing frame rates in the latest
games, realistic HD gaming, and picture-perfect
Blu-ray and HD DVD movie capability.

5.Pervasive Computing

Meaning of Pervasive Computing.
Pervasive computing is the trend towards increasingly ubiquitous (another name for themovement is ubiquitous
computing), connected computing devices in the environment, atrend being brought about by a convergence of
advanced electronic - and particularly, wireless - technologies and the Internet. Pervasive computing devices are not
personalcomputers as we tend to think of them, but very tiny - even invisible - devices, either mobileor embedded
in almost any type of object imaginable, including cars, tools, appliances, clothing and various consumer goods - all
communicating through increasinglyinterconnected networks.
Example 1
SMART TV
An Internet-enabled TV set that supports movie streaming from content providers such as Netflix,
Amazon and Hulu. Also called a "connected TV," a smart TV may contain a browser for general
Web surfing and also be able to execute built-in or downloaded applications. A QWERTY
keyboard may be built into the remote control; however, some smart TVs have tablet apps that,
working simultaneously with the TV, display the program guide, control the set and offer
additional information. If the user wants cable TV, and the TV does not support CableCARDs, a
cable set-top box is still required. However, a smart TV eliminates the set-top box for the
streaming services that are built into the TV.
Example 2
GPS
stands for "Global Positioning System." GPS is a satellite navigation system used to determine
ground position and velocity (location, speed, and direction). Though it was created and
originally used by the U.S. military, GPS is now available to the general public all over the world.
GPS navigation systems are currently installed in a number of luxury cars, complete with an
LCD map that shows the driver exactly where in the world he is. Advanced car GPS units can
actually speak the directions to a certain destination and tell the driver when to turn.
6.CONCLUSION
Most of the open source software is licensed under what is often termed a "copyleft"license[citation needed], a
term which emphasizes the license's reversal of the principles of copyright. A traditional license is used to limit
freedoms, which the free software movementconsiders essential, the "four software freedoms",taking them away
from the users eithercompletely ("you may not distribute the software") or partially ("you can use the software for
anevaluation period of 30 days; after that you must either pay a license registration fee ordiscontinue the software").
