GRANDE COLE
3
A Stepladder to Managerial Skills
The business environment has changed very rapidly over
the last years and will continue to do so in the future. New
paradigms, techniques and centers of power are emerging
and call for highly advanced knowledge in the field of mana-
gement. This is precisely what we aim to offer in the Master
in Management Grande cole Program at HEC Paris. At
the same time, we expect our graduates to foresee these
changes and be able to make a difference in this changing
world. This explains why HEC Paris seeks to attract the
best students from all over the world into its Master Program. For more than a cen-
tury now, academic excellence and selectivity has stood for the Grande cole spirit
that HEC Paris has contributed to build.
The curriculum is divided into two phases: the first phase is an immersion into the
foundations of business knowledge, while the second phase is dedicated to a spe-
cialization that you have chosen according to your professional project, followed by
an optional Certificate. Many specializations are offered not only on campus but also
through a large range of international programs.
The program also benefits from close ties with the business community: corporate
partners are very active in providing practical knowledge through direct participation
in courses, training seminars, consultancy projects and conferences organized on
campus. They also participate in several recruiting events throughout the year and
offer numerous internships and job offers to our students.
Finally, we believe that the key asset HEC Paris offers its students from all over the
world is our renowned and long-established tradition of welcoming international stu-
dents, be it in the content of the program, its international exposure, the involvement
of the business community, the network of 45,000 alumni or the schools reputation
which is constantly ranked amongst the Top Business Schools in the world. In addi-
tion, the campus, an ideal living and learning environment and the rich cultural and
social life of nearby Paris will help make your stay a rewarding experience.
We know that choosing the right business school is a hugely difficult decision to
make, but remember our goal here at HEC Paris is to help you to make your career
dreams come true!
We look forward to welcoming you soon.

THE FRENCH LANGUAGE
MIM students do not need to speak French to enroll in the program as all core courses and most
electives are offered in English. However, some knowledge of French can be useful to enjoy the full
HEC experience, become professionally bicultural and optimize networking with French students
and alumni. This is why HEC Paris offers optional French language classes free of charge to its
international students.
Students may also register for a French language course (TEF certificate all levels) in August.
This is an exceptional opportunity to learn French and to live in the very heart of Paris before joining
the Campus (www.hec.edu/MSc/Campus/French-Summer-School).

OPTIONAL CERTIFICATE
Sponsored by a company, the Certificates are a set of interdisciplinary courses taught in English,
corresponding to approximately 100 contact hours as well as business projects and other types
of field work related to a given sector. Each student joins one certificate and will be awarded an
additional HEC certificate if he/she validates all the requirements of the course.
Energy & Finance (with Deloitte and Socit Gnrale):
The Energy & Finance Certificate is an exceptional opportunity for participants to confront the issues
in this sector and acquire the knowledge and analytical skills that will help them make informed
decisions, as important contributors to the current industrial revolution.
Innovation Management in Aviation & Aerospace (with Safran):
The general objective of the course is to provide participants with a set of skills and instruments
to manage firms in high technology sectors and to understand the industry dynamics in these
sectors. To this end, the course introduces conceptual frameworks based on cutting-edge research
in economics, strategy and technology management.
Luxury Strategies (with PPR - Gucci, Yves Saint Laurent, Alexander McQueen, Balenciaga, Stella
McCartney, Sergio Rossi, Boucheron...):
The Luxury Strategies certificate is a business oriented certificate, seeking to provide future
managers with an in-depth understanding of the unique rules for the effective management of
luxury brands and companies.
Social Business (with Danone, Schneider Electric, Renault and la Direction Gnrale de la
Cohsion Sociale and private donors):
The aim of the Social Business certificate is to train students in the innovative business approaches
that reduce poverty by offering new economic models for both developed and developing countries,
and investigating new methods of co-creation and distribution of wealth to reduce poverty.
Digital Innovation for Business (with Free, Meetic, Pixmania, PriceMinister and Vente-privee.com):
The Certificate provides HEC students with the opportunity to embrace e-business through an
entrepreneurial approach. They will explore the various ways digital technologies enhance innovation
through new business models, e-commerce, digital communication, collaborative marketing,
funding of new ventures, etc.
HEC INCUBATOR, A CATALYST FOR BUSINESS SUCCESS
Many students develop exciting ideas for new companies before, during and after their time at HEC
Paris, but are sometimes deterred by the high risks that setting up a new firm might entail. The HEC
Incubator helps participants manage these start-up risks so that they can pursue their ambitions
with greater confidence.
The Incubator program involves active mentoring from Faculty and Alumni, and is supported by a
three-step pre-incubation phase. Throughout the Introducing Entrepreneurship, Sandbox and
Springboard steps, participants use colleagues as a sounding board for their ideas before deciding
whether to submit them for full Incubator selection. www.hec.fr/incubateur-hec.
