ABSTRACT
(Instructions: Summarize in less then 100 words the purpose of the lab, methods used, key findings, and
significant conclusions. This is written for some one who does not have time to read the whole report.
Complete the abstract after you are done with the rest of the report. Do not write equations here. Check using
the word count tool in WORD that the total word count is within 100)

KEYWORDS:
(Enter 5 keywords that are relevant to this experiment. They must one word each only)

INTRODUCTION
THEORY
Energy is transmitted by waves. Energy transmitted in wave form is reflected off certain
surfaces. Some meterails reflect microwaves better than others. For example, most
metals reflect microwaves well,whereas materials such as wood and plastic are
poorer reflectors of microwaves.
When microwave are transmitted into space, they are free to speard across a wide
area. This means that a lot of energy can be lost. One way of nsuring minimum loss
of energy in microwave transmission is to send the microwaves down the metal
tube.They will bounce off the inner sides of the tube and so will reach their required
destination with a minimum amount of energy loss. These metal tubes are called
Waveguides
This should be short and only provide theoretical background on the basic concept and not detailed derivation.
For example, a formula used in the equation must be mentioned here but the derivation of that formula need
not be done or shown here.

LAB HANDOUT QUESTIONS

List all the questions and write answers following the questions.

EQUIPMENTS USED
List 5 most important components and instrumentations used

* Microwave Transmitter
* Microwave Receiver
* Narrow Metal plate
* Wide metal plate
* Plastic Sheet

PROCEDURE
Description of procedure should follow in chronological order.
This section should include just enough detail so that another researcher could duplicate the experiment
(necessary diagrams, or spreadsheets should be included).
Get schematics from instructor or draw your own.
Describe the process (a step by step of the important actions)

RESULTS
The results are the data that the experiment yielded.
Include graphs and/or tables as appropriate.
Clearly state what you have seen in the lab.
If you have results that make no sense still mention that and explain why you think so.
State your results specifically mention numbers to make your point do not mention all data here.
Include plots, tables, etc as needed for clarity and precision
Make sure to comment on your results.

CONCLUSION
The conclusion presents an interpretation of the data. This should be about 100 words.
This is the most important part, because it is here that the experimenter(s) demonstrate understanding of the
experiment and related concepts.
If something is not what you expected, explain why this might have happened.
Comparing expected results with actual results, analyzing experimental error.
Explaining results in terms of theoretical issues, relating results to the experimental objectives.
Also Summarize to what degree the experiment achieved its goals.

REFERENCES
(List atleast 2 references, where the topic of the material that you cover in your experiment is mentioned and
explained. Example of how a reference is written. F.T. Ulaby, Fundamentals of Applied Electromagnetics,
Chapter 2.1, Prentice Hall, 2004 Anything that someone else thought/designed/wrote/drew/talked about.
Better to over-reference than under-reference. Give credit where credit is due, or even where it just might be
due.)

APPENDIX
Introduction to appendix
Appendices are commonly used for technical data and details that are beyond what the average reader needs in
order to understand your report. Derivations of formulas, full sets of data (when only part is included in
figures in the main body), full circuit schematics (when block diagrams are included in the text), data sheets
(especially for internal engineering reports), etc.
