FIELD TRIP! We are so excited for our Bluffton Experience field trip!

We spent
much of this week learning about our government and our community helpers. We have
already learned so much about the important people in our community and are anxious to
finally get to meet all of these people on Monday!
Unfortunately, we were unable to start NWEA this week. Instead, we will be taking the
test on two days next week. On Tuesday at 10:30 we will take the reading section and
on Wednesday at 10:30 we will take the math section. This test will show the areas
that students need the most support and when we take it again at the end of the year
it will show how much they have grown this year! Encourage your child to try his or her
best, even though the test is long! Please make sure they get a good nights sleep each
night and eat a good breakfast before coming to school or at school!
Next week we will continue working with our short vowels and will be focusing on the
short u sound. Every one has done an INCREDIBLE job of turning in homework this
year. Thank you!! I apologize for forgetting to attach the math page this week!
We will be continuing our social studies unit next week. Our focus will shift from com-
munity helpers to learning about different careers. Next weeks homework will focus
more on answering questions about a specific career and becoming an expert on that
particular occupation!
I am so excited to dive deeper into our Writing Workshop! I spent all day Thursday at
a conference in Indianapolis learning about the different traits of writing and different
strategies for teaching those traits. I cant wait to see how many fabulous authors we
will have in our class this year!
