Tractors Singapore Limited became a wholly-owned
subsidiary of Sime Singapore Limited and gained
Independent Caterpillar dealership status with the
service territories of Singapore and Christmas Island
(Indian Ocean).
1984
Tractors Malaysia began its manufacturing and
assembly operations.
1992
Hastings Deering became an operating division
after the Sime Darby Group acquired its Caterpillar
dealerships for Queensland, Northern Territory, Papua
New Guinea and Solomon Islands.
1994
Austchrome Pty. Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of
Hastings Deering (Australia) Limited, specialising in
hard chroming and hydraulic repairs ofcially opened.
1996
Tractors Malaysia became the rst private sector
company in Malaysia to obtain approval from the City
& Guilds of London Institute, UK and the Malaysian
Ministry of Education to conduct two City & Guilds
Professional Examination relevant to the heavy
equipment and motor vehicles industries in Malaysia.
1997
Tractors Malaysia launched its Equipment
Rental division to capitalise on equipment rental
opportunities.
1998
Tractors Rebuild Sdn. Bhd. commenced business to
provide heavy equipment refurbishment services and
its 11 rebuild centres throughout Malaysia.
Caterpillar Financial Services Malaysia, a joint venture
between Tractors Malaysia and Caterpillar Financial
Services Corporation was set up to offer hire purchase
and leasing products for the heavy equipment sector.

2011
Caterpillar acquired Bucyrus by mid December 2011,
Hasting Deering became the rst Cat dealer in the
world to sell, service and support the new range
of Caterpillar underground and surface mining
equipment.
2000
Hastings Deering acquired Caltrac, the Cat dealer in
New Caledonia.
Caterpillar Inc assigned service territory of Maldives
to Tractors Singapore Limited.
2001
Tractors Singapore Limited became the rst Caterpillar
dealer in Asia to open The Cat Rental Store. 2002
China Engineers Limited is appointed the Cat dealer
in the Xinjiang Region.
Tractors Singapore Limited and Sime Darby
Industrial Sdn. Bhd. with two other Cat dealers
formed a joint venture to purchase FG Wilson Asia
Pte. Ltd.
2006
Tractors Malaysia was de-listed from Bursa Malaysia
in February 2006.
Restructuring exercises within the Sime Darby
Group resulted in the consolidation and
streamlining of the heavy equipment business under
the Group through privatisation.
2007
Sime Darby Industrial Division was formed.
2008
Tractors Singapore Limited and several other Cat
dealers from a joint venture APAC Energy Rental
Pte. Ltd., registers in Singapore, to operate generator
sets rentals in the region, with the aim or capturing
opportunities around the Asia Pacic.
2010
First ever Cat On-Road Trucks launched in Australia
through joint venture between Caterpillar Inc and
Navistar Inc.
1999
Tractors Malaysias headquarters moved into
Tractors Engineering Complex, Puchong, Selangor,
Malaysia
China Engineers Limited appointed Caterpillar
representative in Hunan, Jiangxi and Fujian in
addition to its current operations in the provinces of
Guangdong, Guangxi and Hainan.
2013
HDIT opened a new operator training and
demonstration complex at Morayeld, North Brisbane
in March. The dealer owned facility, which simulates an
operational open cut mine, was the rst of its kind for a
Caterpillar dealer in Asia Pacic and possibly the world.
2012
Tractors Malaysia organised Construction &
Infrastructure Equipment Exhibition (CIEX) 2012,
the largest Car products and services in Malaysia,
showcasing the latest Cat equipment, products, services
and technology at Tractors Engineering Complex,
Puchong, Selangor.
